The Message Concerning Christ

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

Often we mistakenly believe that the Gospel message is about Jesus AND us. But when you read 1 Corinthians 15 you learn that it's all about Jesus and his death, burial, and resurrection. We benefit from his work. But it's the message concerning Christ that is of utmost importance.

  • Clay comments about Psalm 103. How far is the east from the west?

Holy and Blameless

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

We know intuitively that God is holy. We know that His character and essence is far beyond ours. Through his reconciling work on the cross, Jesus presents us to God as holy and blameless. Hebrews 10:10 puts it this way: "And by that will, we have been made holy through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all." He made us holy so that he could dwell within us.

God's Eternal Character

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Andrew Farley

The gospel of Jesus Christ really tells us that God is good. It is his eternal character. You don't have to wonder how God feels about you. He has said he freely has given you all things. He says you're blessed with every spiritual blessings. God is greater than you can every imagine.

Promises and Blessings

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

The New Covenant is guaranteed to us by a better promise and an oath made by God. We read about this in Hebrews 6:13-20 "For when God made a promise to Abraham, since he had no one greater by whom to swear, he swore by himself, saying, 'Surely I will bless you and multiply you.' And thus Abraham, having patiently waited, obtained the promise. ..."

The Real Deal

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

If you go through the Word of God looking for what you're supposed to do, you're not going to be following the trail of assurance. But if you go through looking for his promises, you will walk that trail of assurance. "In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of his glory." Rise Up!

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

Let's look at the Old Testament in Deuteronomy 6:4-9 "Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates."

Rejoice in the New Covenant

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

We're celebrating Holy Week this week. We're celebrating the events that led up to the ushering in of the New Covenant. We're looking at how the sacrifice of Jesus Christ impacted our story. "When the hour came, Jesus and his apostles reclined at the table. And he said to them, 'I have eagerly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer. 16 For I tell you, I will not eat it again until it finds fulfillment in the kingdom of God.' ... This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me. ... This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you." Luke 22:14-15,19-20

Your Place of Rest

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

For many Christians, they've already found their place of rest. But too many are still trying to find that rest. So let's talk about how to find your place of rest. That's tied to Jesus' death upon the cross 2,000 years ago. The Gospel starts with his death. But why did he die. Hebrews 9:22 answers that: "Indeed, under the law almost everything is purified with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins."

The Resurrection and The Life

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

Easter is coming up soon and we're looking at the Gospel - the death, the burial, and the resurrection of Jesus Christ. As Jesus looked toward Calvary he received news that his friend Lazarus was sick. Instead of coming quickly he stayed away and he did so for a purpose. To show that we have hope of something more. "I am the resurrection and the life." This is one of the seven "I am" statements Jesus makes - all pointing to our hearts.

Jesus is Our Salvation

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

Our salvation is a gift from God, by grace, through faith in Jesus. He has done the work necessary to save us completely. We are eternally secure because of the finished work of Jesus Christ. Colossians 3:3 For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. When you confess that Jesus is God, he gives you his life and he comes to take up residence in your heart. Because of that reality, then you are guaranteed to appear with Him in glory.

He's the Real Thing

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

Don't go into 2019 missing the real thing. The real thing is the person of Jesus Christ. Colossians 2:16-19 "Therefore let no one pass judgment on you in questions of food and drink, or with regard to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath. These are a shadow of the things to come, but the substance belongs to Christ. ..." People often feel empty even though they are following all the religious rituals and activities that they think are necessary in order to live the Christmas life. But, the truth is those are just shadows. The substance of faith is only found in Jesus Christ. In Him, you are made complete. The answers for the human heart are all found in the real One, Jesus Christ. If you are feeling that something is missing in the very depth of your soul, open your heart and receive Jesus Christ. Once you have been made complete in Him, your search will be over and you will be free to grow in your knowledge of Him.
