The Great I AM

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

This is the last broadcast as Basic Gospel. We are grateful for the love and support of our listeners and we thank God for each and every one of you. Today’s message is the Great I Am. Our Christian life begins and ends with Jesus. He holds everything together. Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I am.” John 8:58. Jesus is always going to be the Great I AM in your life. Rejoice in the truth that he will never leave you or forsake you. Open the door of your heart and say “yes” to Jesus Christ.

He is Alive!

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

He is alive! This is the greatest message ever told. This gospel message is a message of life. We see that through the resurrection of Jesus Christ. 1 Corinthians 15:17 says “And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins.” But, thanks be to God, Jesus was raised and in him we have eternal life.

Live a New Life

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

Before we got new life we had to go through death. The story of the Gospel is the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. God had to take us though death to bring us to life in Him. "What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? By no means! ... We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life." Romans 6:1-4

Resurrection

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

Christianity hinges upon a single event two thousand years ago. The death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. And it's the resurrection that causes many pause. Paul addresses Jesus' resurrection in 1 Corinthians 15:14,17 "and if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is in vain, your faith also is in vain. ... and if Christ has not been raised, your faith is worthless; you are still in your sins."

Power of 8: The Reality of the Resurrection, Part 2

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

The resurrection impacts our daily lives. The first impact is that the resurrection means we have eternal life. The resurrection is God's pronouncement that Jesus is the Son of God. Because of this, we can be assured that He has power over death and that he can raise us to new life... eternal life. Once we have eternal life, then we will begin to experience freedom and change in our daily life. The next impact is assurance. Life is in Jesus Christ. If you have Jesus, you have eternal life. That is assurance. It's not just a hope, but a steadfast assurance.

Power of 8: The Reality of the Resurrection, Part 1

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

The story of Jesus is the death, burial, resurrection and ascension. The resurrection of Christ Jesus is where we experience new life. In the book of Romans 1:3-4 Paul makes a point to mark the resurrection as God's stamp of approval that what Jesus claimed about himself was true. But the resurrection is so much more than just an apologetic; it is the power of the Gospel.

The Resurrection is the Message

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

The resurrected body of Jesus was immortal - never to face death again. And that's what the Apostles were teaching. The resurrection in the heart and soul of Christianity. "And as they were speaking to the people, the priests and the captain of the temple and the Sadducees came upon them, 2 greatly annoyed because they were teaching the people and proclaiming in Jesus the resurrection from the dead." Acts 4:1-4

Resurrection is the Message

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

There has been a life-change because of the resurrection. And the message of the resurrection is our message to the world. When Jesus started to tell the disciples this message, they didn't understand. Before the foundation of the world God had this plan that included Jesus. It was all a part of God's plan. What was the first message that Peter gave? It was the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Acts 2:14-40

Everything We Need

The resurrection isn't just some facts to believe. It impacts us today in the here and now. You are Part of the Story

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

We have many things to be grateful for and in light of the celebration of the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ we have the opportunity to experience the power of new life. We were stuck in our death and we need something to set us free. In Romans 6 Paul writes: "Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? ..." Trophies of Grace

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

All of Christianity stands upon the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Without his resurrection we are without hope. But what does that event 2,000 years ago mean to us today? Paul spells out the Gospel here: "For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day ..." 1 Corinthians 15:3-5 And we learn in Ephesians "And you were dead in the trespasses and sins in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience... God made us alive together with Christ..." Ephesians 2:1-4

The Easter Story

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

The Easter story is the most compelling and powerful one that's ever been told. The truth of Jesus' death, burial and resurrection is what all of Christianity depends on. If Jesus didn't die and wasn't raised from the dead, then Christianity has no meaning. From "It is Finished" to "He is Risen", Easter is the culmination of our story as believers.

You Crossed Over

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

Bob shares the events of Jesus' last days as he was betrayed, condemned, crucified, and buried. On the third day they came back to the tomb and found it empty. He was risen. But they didn't know it yet. What is the benefit of the Gospel? Romans 5:10 states: "For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life." and John wrote: "Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life." John 5:24

God Has the Power Over Death

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

This week we celebrate the event that changed everything. Jesus Christ is the solution to the needs of the human heart. Scientists across the world are trying to solve the problem of death. But Jesus solved the problem of death 2,000 years ago by overcoming the grave. Only God has the power over death. And because Jesus lives we live.

  • Please explain Matthew 16:28 - "Truly I tell you, some who are standing here will not taste death before they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom."

Christ Has Been Raised

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

It's Easter Week. We celebrate the most important event in human history. We started with Palm Sunday yesterday remembering how Jesus road triumphantly into Jerusalem on a donkey. We can also celebrate the day that Jesus road triumphantly into our own life. The resurrection is the single most important event we celebrate. As Paul stated: "and if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is in vain, your faith also is in vain." 1 Corinthians 15:14

Simple Gospel, Simply Grace - Part 32

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

S. M. Lockridge preached a powerful evangelical sermon years ago. The tagline is "It's Friday, but Sunday's coming". For Christians, Friday represents the death of Christ on the cross and his burial But, thanks be to God, Sunday is coming! Jesus Christ is raised from the dead. For those of us who have to come to Christ, it is always Sunday ... just was he was raised from the dead, we too have been raised to newness of life. We live in a "Friday" world, but, as Christians, our reality is in Sunday...new life in Christ Jesus.
