Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God (Colossians 3:1).
When I first really heard this verse, it was as if neon lights were pointing to the amazing truth that I have been raised with Christ.
That should get your attention, too! Christian, you have been raised with Christ. Paul is declaring a truth about you.
The same power that raised Jesus Christ physically 2000 years ago raised you spiritually to live a new life.
And it happened the moment you believed. Paul explained in his letter to the Romans: We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life (Romans 6:4).
That old you was crucified with Christ. You are new, a child of God with a brand new life. Now, because this is true, you can rely on him in all things. This is is the point of Colossians 3:1: seek the things that are above where Christ is.
In other words, look to Jesus. He is now your life. And nothing in this world compares to Him. If the world tries to deceive you with false teaching, look to Jesus. He is the truth. If trials and tribulations come your way, look to Jesus. He will never leave you nor forsake you. Only he has said, "Come unto me and I will give you rest."
And while you are seeking the things above, set your mind there as well. That's where true joy and peace are experienced. You will never find them in the world.
Don't sell yourself short. You have new life with Christ. You are now a child of God, raised to live a new life.
You've been raised with Christ. He is now your life. Let that truth soak in. Set your heart on things above.
In Him,
Bob Christopher
