Then Pilate said to him, "So you are a king?" Jesus answered, "You say that I am king. For this purpose I was born and for this purpose I have come into the world—to bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth listens to my voice" (John 18:37).
Fake news.
It's everywhere.
So much so, it's hard to figure out what is fact and what is fiction. The groups who publish these lies and propaganda do so to intentionally mislead you. They make the articles look legit, like they come from a reputable source.
But this isn't anything new.
The father of lies has been behind this type of activity since the beginning…delivering fake news about God and Jesus any way he can. All for the purpose of keeping you from knowing and believing the truth.
Jesus clued us in with these scathing words about Satan: "He was a murderer from the beginning, and has nothing to do with the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies" (John 8:44).
Satan lies about everything to keep the truth from reaching your head and your heart. And he has an army of false prophets actively working to keep his fake news churning.
But be not dismayed.
You are of the truth because you believed God's testimony concerning Jesus Christ. You heard his voice and you listened.
And now, you have the Word of God, and the Spirit of God living in you.
As Jesus promised, the Spirit will guide you into all truth…truth that will set you free.
You can't stop the fake news. Satan is on a mission to suppress the truth about God. So he will continue to bombard the world with every lie imaginable.
Here is the good news. God equipped you with a "fake news sensor." You can see right through Satan's lies.
John put it this way: "I write to you, not because you do not know the truth, but because you know it…" (1 John 2:21). Soak this in. You know the truth. You know Jesus Christ.
When the lies of Satan show up in your newsfeed, the Spirit of truth will identify it for what it is. All you need to do is hit delete.
In Him,
Bob Christopher
