The door to everything new!

But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen (2 Peter 3:18).

Nothing can award the heart true fulfillment, deep joy, or genuine contentment like the grace of God. His favor brings the purest and truest sense of happiness to the soul. Paul knew this. Wherever he went, he spoke that word and committed all to that word. Notice in all of his letters, the grace of Jesus Christ is the final note he strikes. This is what he wants you to know and experience.

Paul was not the only apostle, however, given the task of testifying to the grace of God. Peter concluded his first letter with these words: "I have written to you briefly, encouraging you and testifying that this is the true grace of God. Stand fast in it" (1 Peter 5:12). Can you think of a better place to stand than in God's unmerited favor? Can you think of a better place to be than in the person and work of Jesus Christ?

Peter's encouragement goes even further. We are not only to take our stand in the grace of God but also to grow in grace. Like Paul, Peter finishes his letter by striking the note of God's grace. This is what he wants to linger in our minds. This is what he wants to capture our hearts. The last sentence God's Spirit inspired Peter to write was this: "But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen" (2 Peter 3:18).

This isn't something Peter tacked on simply as a nice way to end the letter. Concerning the grace that has come to you, he said, "Even angels long to look into these things" (1 Peter 1:12). What you have in Jesus Christ has captured the attention of the angelic world. Wow! In the coming age, they will see the incomparable riches of God's grace in us.

Grace is the way of salvation. Grace is the way of the Christian life. Grace will stand as an eternal testimony to all of creation.

As for you, grace opened the door to everything new. By faith in Jesus and his finished work, you've walked through. You've taken your stand. Now grow in grace and the knowledge of Jesus Christ. As Paul encouraged Timothy, "Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called" (1 Timothy 6:12).

It's all yours in abundance by grace through faith.

In Him,

Bob Christopher

The truth of the gospel.

Wed, Jul 15th

I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me - the task of testifying to the good news of God's grace (Acts 20:24).
