The Truth We Cherish

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

We see a lot of people trying to blend the various philosophies of the world's religions with Christianity and create something palatable to everyone. But all they do is take away from the truth of Christianity. Paul wrote about this when addressing the Corinthians. "Therefore, as to the eating of food offered to idols, we know that 'an idol has no real existence,' and that 'there is no God but one.'" 1 Corinthians 8:4 That's the truth we cherish as believers.

His Name is On You

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

You and I have a sure foundation in Jesus Christ. "And I saw no temple in the city, for its temple is the Lord God the Almighty and the Lamb. ... But nothing unclean will ever enter it, nor anyone who does what is detestable or false, but only those who are written in the Lamb's book of life." Revelation 21:22-27 You will be a part of that because your name is written in the Lamb's book of life.

God's Best for You

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Andrew Farley

There is one gospel, the gospel of grace. Paul emphasizes this throughout his letters. One Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all. Predestination is simply that Jew and Gentile will come to Christ in the same way under the New Covenant. "I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting him who called you in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel— not that there is another one, but there are some who trouble you and want to distort the gospel of Christ. ..." Galatians 1:6-9

The Ministry of the Spirit

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Andrew Farley

2 Corinthians 3 lays out the contrast between law and grace. Let's talk about why it's important to draw a contrast between law and grace. Paul states God "made us sufficient to be ministers of a new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit. For the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life."

Everything You Need

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

We're not alone. God equipped us to live as children of God in this world. We have everything we need for life and godliness. We can live as Christians in this world today. "His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence... " 2 Peter 1:3

In Him, You Have Rest

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

In Exodus 33, Moses gets a disturbing message from God. It is time to travel to the Promised Land, but God says he will not go before them because the people's hearts were hard. Moses advocates for his people and asks God to distinguish his people from all the rest by going with them to the Promised Land. God then promises that he will go with his people and give them rest. As believers, we have the same promise. Jesus lives in us and his presence means we are at rest. Once we know we are in the presence of God we can rest. Do you know that as a believer in Christ you can never be outside the favor of God? The Holy Spirit is the guarantee of that truth.

Ephesians - 5:21 - 6:9: Relationships

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

Our relationships can become very frustrating if they are not anchored in the grace of God. The love of God is to control us in every relationship we have. It is God's love that becomes the motivating factor in all our relationships. To be filled with the Spirit means this - submission one to another. It's how Jesus lived his life - constant submission to his Father. These admonitions regarding marriage, parent/child relationship, and our work relationships are relationships of love - anchored firmly to the grace of God.

Are You Qualified?

Richard Peifer, Bob Davis, Andrew Farley

Let's look again at Colossians 1:12 concerning the word "qualified". We use the words in sports and all kinds of contests. So when we see a versed about being qualified we ask the question, "What do I have to do to be qualified?" We are qualified because of what Jesus Christ did so we can live everyday in Him.

God's Amazing Grace

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

Today we commemorate one of the great unifiers in American history, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. He delivered a sermon titled: "Paul's Letter to American Churches" in which Dr. Martin said, "In the midst of man's tragic sin stands God's amazing grace!" What is the solution to relating to others in this world today? There is only one thing powerful enough to destroy the wall between people and that is the grace of God.

We Call it Good News

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

My favorite telling of the birth of Christ is Luke's Gospel. Luke 2:8-19 "... And the angel said to them, 'Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.' ..."

Trust in Jesus Christ

October 10 is World Mental Health day. Statistics show that 40 million Americans have mental health issues. And many of those are suffering from depression. As believers, let's never ever underestimate the power of the Gospel when it comes to the matters of the soul. This issue needs our listening ears, our caring hearts and our generous love. "... do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God." Philippians 4:6

"Now, brothers and sisters, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand. ... A Friend of God

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

Some of the great truths in the Bible get down to our relationship with the Father. And one of the most powerful words used for this relationship is "friend". " You are my friends if you do what I command you. 15 No longer do I call you servants, for the servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all that I have heard from my Father I have made known to you." Freedom in Christ

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

"There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus." It is the work of Jesus Christ that brings us to that point. "For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death." Romans 8:1-2 It is a privilege to live in this freedom and share it with others.

Established in the Faith

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

Happy New Year to everyone. This is a great reminder that we live in a New Covenant. Paul sums it up, we are a "new creation. The old has gone and the new has come" 2 Corinthian 5:17 Paul further writes in Colossians 2:6, 7 "Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving."

Love Always Perseveres

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

1 Corinthians 13:4-7 "Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. ... " When you get connected to the love of Christ, his love can be poured out through you into the lives of others. As we receive the truth about the love of God for us, then we can apply patience and mercy to those we love. It's an inside-out truth and is the key to healthy, solid, and authentic relationships.
