Today is day one of Conference 220.
I will be tweeting throughout the conference. To follow the thread or to join the conversation on Twitter, use #220.
Galatians 2:20 is the conference theme. “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.”
This verse lays out the best news ever – the Christian life is 100% Jesus. I tried to live the Christian life. You have too. We can’t do it. But Jesus can, and He does through us.
We simply trust Christ, or as Paul wrote we “live by faith in the Son of God.”
This is such a freeing message. Those who take it to heart experience peace and rest.
How has this passage impacted your life?
This verse has assured and reassured me time and time again.
Phil 2:13 for it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose.
This verse reiterates the fact that it is not what we do, but what God does through us. In fact, until we die to our own efforts, we will not have the privilege of participating in the divine nature, because we will be too busy “doing things for God”. Thus, we will not be available to God to will and act according to HIS good purpose.
I have layed awake so many nights, knowing I blew it somewhere during the day. Most of my life I have tried. And tried again, yet I know deep down I’ll probably blow it again. Time & time again. I can’t live the Christian life, only Jesus is able. Praise GOD! I can’t, but He can. So by FAITH I give it all up to Christ, who can!
Hi Jake,
Nove of us can start having victory over
our flesh, the devil and this world until
we do like you said you started doing ,and
that is to trust Jesus to do it for us.
I copied a chapter from my book, and pasted
it here about:
Chapter 43
Let’s Stop Trying To Live The
Christian Life
(Bold added to some verses by the author).
(Paraphrases added in parentheses by author to
some verses).
Why?
Because none of us can live it by our own
efforts.
Then, who can?
Only by Christ living in us and through us can we
live a life that totally pleases His Father, and now our
Father..
He did it before His death & resurrection; and He
can do it again after we receive Him into our lives by
His Spirit from God.
Gal. 4:4-6, (4) But when the fulness of the time
was come, God sent forth His Son, made of a woman,
made under the law. (5) To redeem them that were
under the law (those trying to please God by their
own efforts), that we might receive the adoption of
sons. (6) And because ye are sons, God hath sent
forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying,
Abba, Father.
Col. 1:27, To whom God would make known what
is the riches of the glory of the mystery. . . which is
Christ in you. . .
Gal. 2:20, I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless
I live: yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life
which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the
Son of God, who loved m, and gave himself for me.
Hebrews 13: (20) Now the God of peace, that
brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that
great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of
the everlasting covenant, (21) Make you perfect in
every good work to do his will, working in you
that which is wellpleasing in his sight, through
Jesus Christ. . . .
The above verses makes it very clear that it is by
God working in and through us by His Son Jesus
Christ that we will be made to live a life that is pleasing to God.
Eph. 2:10, For we are his workmanship, created in
Christ Jesus unto good works. . . .
Let’s Stop Trying To Live The Christian Life
We do the believing and the trusting in Jesus’
name, and then God does the working in and through
us.
So let us stop trying to live the Christian life by our
efforts, and start trusting Christ in us, by God’s Spirit, to do what we can never do.
Paul said in Romans 7:18, For I know that in me
(that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing. . . .
Even Paul knew that it was only God’s Spirit in
him that would make him the person he should be.
(Read Roman 8:1 – 17).
Even Jesus said in John 14:12. . . He that believeth
on me, the works that I do shall he do also. . . .
Philippians 4:13, I can do all things through Christ
which strengtheneth me.
