The New Covenant — Does it Sound Religious to You?

This month’s radio theme is the New Covenant. As I said on yesterday’s program, the New Covenant encompasses everything about Jesus Christ. It really is a message about Him. All the promises and provisions invite us into a new journey with The Lord himself.
When I first stumbled over the phrase New Covenant in the bible, however, it struck me as an old religious phrase. Quite frankly, my mind’s eye saw a Levitical priest dressed in his religious garb performing his religious duties. What could be new and exciting about that?
Makes me wonder, what did you think when you first either read or heard the phrase New Covenant?
How would you explain this most dynamic of all biblical truths in a way that doesn’t sound religious or old?

  1. When I first saw it and that I was totally forgiven that there was no more sacrifice for sin I was thrilled and still decieved for a little while. I quit asking God for further forgivenss and was elated that I was not under law any more, but I got decieved like the Corinthians had and took advantage not wanting to but in effect did and through the learning of that process today I do not for The Holy Ghost has taught me truth and is still doing so today. What a trap of flesh carnal mindedness to come out of WHEW and know still today can get back trapped therefore I am thankful for Christ Jesus the righteous one my Advocate

  2. Hi Bob I will explain, that “The New Covenant” Represents the Person of Jesus, as God has shared with us through out the bible leading up to the birth of jesus that he will have a new arrangement with man kind. Number one: God was in Christ Jesus Reconciling the world to himself not counting men sins against them, 2 Corinthians 5:19,offering forgiveness to mankind. God established that without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins. Hebrews 9:7: For this reason Christ is the mediator of a new covenant, that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance–now that he has died as a ransom to set them free from the sins committed under the first covenant.Hebrews 9:15.
because a will is in force only when somebody has died; it never takes effect while the one who made it is living. Hebrews 9:17.
In a nutshell God has made provision for forgiveness of sins for all mankind!
Number 2: Not only did God estabished forgiveness of sins. through the death of his son, but through adam we were all born into this world spiritually dead, as the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life. He came to give us spiritual life which is Christ Jesus himself. 1John 5:12 -13.
He who has the son have life. God wanted to establish that we would have eternal life in the new covenant between himself and mankind, Individuals can receive spiritual life, which is also eternal, which is Christ Jesus himself, by simply asking for it, and being that the wages of sin is death,God had to do away with sin not counting mens sins against them, so that we could have eternal life. Christ Jesus living his life inside of us! Awesome! And being Forgiven Forever! This my friend is “The New Covenant” between man and God, is how I will explain The New Covenant Bob. 🙂

  3. To be honest Bob, I never gave a thought to the term “New Covenant” when I first received Jesus. When I first heard about what the New Covenant was with People to People ministry and Bob George teaching this many years ago. The New Covenant ties everything together. I had come out of a background of the Catholic religion and thinking that God was hacked with me for all the wrongs I was doing. The great news of the Gospel is that this was the furthest thing from the truth.
So, the New Covenant message for me brought everything together and is completely logical. God did for me what I could not do for myself, so that he could give me eternal life when I believed. I want to shout it from the rooftops; I am still so excited after 20 plus years of being in Christ Jesus!

  4. The New Covenant
Hebrews 8) (10). . . I (the Lord) will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people: (12) For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins. . . will I remember no more. (13) In that he (the Lord) saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first (covenant) old. . . .
Hebrews 9: (11) But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle. . . (12). . . but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place (into the presence of God His Father in heaven), having obtained eternal redemption for us.(14) How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered
himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? (15) And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the
transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance. (24) For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands (made with the hands of men). . . but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us: (28) So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.
Hebrews 10:10, By the which will (by the new covenant) we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. (12) But this man (Jesus), after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God; (13) From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool. (14) For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.  (17) And their sins. . . I (God) remember no more. (19) Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus, (20) By a new and living way. . . through the veil, that is to say, his flesh. (We can now enter into the very presence of God in heaven by the blood and flesh Jesus sacrificed for us on the cross, and now in heaven as our high priest). (22) Let us draw near (to God). . . in full assurance of faith (in what Jesus has accomplished for us), having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience (be free from a guilty conscience).
(Hebrews 13) (20) Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, (21) Make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is wellpleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

  5. Hi Bob, I thought the term New Covenant was just the name for the thin part of the Bible!!
Bob George was the first person I ever heard explain that a) there was a difference, and b) why.
I now balance every scripture against – when was it written, and to whom.
Thanks to BG, I am able to pass-on, that the New Covenant began with Jesus’ DEATH, not his life. This has transformed scripture for me and many others – at last the Bible makes sense…
Thanks for changing my life BG!

  6. Much thanks to God through Jesus Christ our Lord who raised up Bob George, Christopher, Davis, Piefer and the rest of the PTP staff for your dilligence and spiritual dessemination of the Word of God which has set many people of God free. There were so many deceived by error concerning the Death, Burial and Ressurrection of our Lord jesus and the impact it has had on freeing many from bondage. Living in the Detroit, Michigan area has been devastating enough with the issues – but now that light is being shed concerning truth which makes one free has lifted an awsome heavy burden – we are now embarking on Being a Voice in this area which has been a dessert devoid of truth. Thanks People to People. Looking forward to seeing you all face to face in the near future which will inspire us along with God’s Word and knowledge concerning his forgiveness. We are Miniters of a New Covenant and shall remain till He (Jesus) comes again.

  7. I remember 20 Plus Years ago when I first heard Bob Goerge talk about it. My first response was wait aminute I ‘ve got to have something to do with it. I’ve been good ( I thought I was) I thought he was crazy. But something kept pushing me to keep listening and He revealed the truth to me through this ministry. I thank God for this ministry and for His truth!
