Why Can't I Forgive Myself? – Reason #2

The 28 Day Forgiveness Challenge — Day 17
I’ve crossed the line.
Some people think they are beyond the forgiveness of God. A gentleman named John was listening to the Basic Gospel radio broadcast one day. Something he heard prompted him to call. The shame and guilt in his voice were palpable. I asked him: “John, do you believe you’ve crossed a line and that there is no hope for you?”
“Yes, that’s exactly how I feel.”
What a horrible place to be. If you believe your sins are so big that they have exhausted the supply of God’s grace, you are doomed to a life of self-condemnation and will miss the grace of God for you.
Paul could have easily lived under a blanket of self-condemnation. He blasphemed God’s good name and persecuted Christians. As he said to Timothy, he was the chief of sinners. But God exercised unlimited patience with Paul and poured out his grace on him abundantly.
The gospel tells us that God’s grace never runs out. It is a limitless supply, which means there is no line you can cross. There is no place you can be that God cannot reach you.
Grace takes you out of your sin and places you into Christ Jesus. Since God does not remember your sins, there is no need for you to keep dredging them up.
Forgiveness Challenge #17 – Look deep inside and find those things that are keeping you from fully embracing the grace of God. Then let the following verse melt those things away:
There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. (Romans 8:1)

  1. …,because”when you eat from it you will certainly die” not only no longer applies, but no longer exist.Sin can no longer produce death. As someone once said a few years back”Sin is no longer an issue”.This is now a life and death issue.Jesus has done the CPR and the result is Eternal Life.No relapses.Period.End of discussion.Believe it or not.

  2. Bob I hope and do think you don’t mind I took what you have said and placed it on Christianchat.com , where I am homwardbound over there, and wow it is a hit, yesterdays and now todays, it is a hit to me Brother and thank you

  3. The word of God tells us that without the shedding of blood, (sacrifice), there can be no forgiveness. We are also told that there is no longer any sacrifice for sin, therefore there is no longer any forgiveness for sin. All of the forgiveness that God would ever provide occurred at the death of Jesus on the cross.
God also tells us that he reconciled the world, means everyone, and that means he is not counting our sins against us. The only sin being counted against us is that we do not believe in Jesus, according to Jesus.
When we repent, or change our mind, about Jesus we are saved.
    Heb 9:22
In fact, the law requires that nearly everything be cleansed with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.
    Heb 10:18
Where there is forgiveness of these, there is no longer any sacrifice for sin.
    2Co 5:18
All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation:
    2Co 5:19
that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them.
    Jhn 16:7
But very truly I tell you, it is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Advocate will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you.
    Jhn 16:8
When he comes, he will prove the world to be in the wrong about sin and righteousness and judgment:
    Jhn 16:9
    about sin, because people do not believe in me;
    Jhn 3:17
For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.
    Jhn 3:18
Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.
