A New Commandment

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

Toward the end of his life Jesus gathered his disciples to prepare them for what was ahead. In John 13 Jesus chooses to wash the feet of the disciples. It was to show the full extent of his love. The next day he showed the ultimate act of love through his death on the cross. In the washing of the disciple's feet, he shared a new commandment. "A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another." John 13:34-35

So Walk in Him

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

"Therefore as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, having been firmly rooted and now being built up in Him and established in your faith, just as you were instructed, and overflowing with gratitude." Colossians 2:6-7 As the grace of God touches our heart, we respond by faith. We walk in Him by that same faith.

No Greater Identity

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

When we don't know who we are, we play religious games to try to figure out who we are. But God wants us to know we are children of God. John wrote: "He came to his own, and his own people did not receive him. But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God."

Close to God

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

There are many ways we come up with to be closer to God. But we don't have what it takes to get us there. "What then shall we say? That the law is sin? By no means! Yet if it had not been for the law, I would not have known sin. For I would not have known what it is to covet if the law had not said, 'You shall not covet.' ... " Romans 7:7-11 The Gospel draws us near to God and enables us to be close to Him. Close to God both in location and relationship.

You Are a Child of God

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

What does hope mean to you and me? How does the hope of the Gospel lift us up? During this pandemic more than 50% of Americans have experienced depression. There are so many things that affect us at large and in person. "See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are. The reason why the world does not know us is that it did not know him. Beloved, we are God's children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when he appears we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is. And everyone who thus hopes in him purifies himself as he is pure." 1 John 3:1-3

Take a Fresh Look at The Cross

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

The grace of God is sufficient to meet every need of the human heart. It's the love of God that brings us assurance to live everyday. John, in his Gospel, only described himself as the one whom Jesus loved. "In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him. In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins." 1 John 4:9-10

Dr. John Lennox, part 2

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Dr. John Lennox

We continue our discussion with Dr. John Lennox today. Dr. Lennox asserts that religion and science are compatible one with another. Specifically natural science and Biblical theism. The Judeo-Christian legacy in the Bible is the foundation for contemporary science. The beginning of scripture is a huge statement. If there is an intelligent God behind nature and if he has made us in his image then it is to be expected that we can understand nature. The same heavens and earth proclaimed as God's creation in Genesis are the very same heavens and earth that are studied by physicists and astrophysicists.

Dr. John Lennox, part 1

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Dr. John Lennox

Our guest today is Dr. John Lennox, author of "Can Science Explain Everything?" It can often seem that, in the 21st century, we have no need for religion when science has given us so many insights into the mysteries of this universe. Science and religion just do not mix. Drawing on his own experiences as a scientist and a Christian, and decades of good-natured discussion and debates about the relationship between them, Dr. Lennox suggests we can see these two presumed foes as good friends and enjoy and benefit from both of them.
