Counted as Righteousness
Bob Christopher, Bob Davis
Romans 4:1-5 says "What then shall we say was gained by Abraham, our forefather according to the flesh? For if Abraham was justified by works, he has something to boast about, but not before God. For what does the Scripture say? "Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness." Now to the one who works, his wages are not counted as a gift but as his due. And to the one who does not work but believes in him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is counted as righteousness". The law shows us that we are not measuring up, and that's all. The law cannot save you. If you are trying to work your way into righteousness, you will never achieve it. Instead, trust that God can justify you, give you hope, and make you righteous.

Jesus' Claims
Bob Christopher, Bob Davis
Do you know what you believe about the death, burial, and resurrection? It's the Gospel story. But, why is it relevant to you? Jesus died for our sins in accordance to scriptures. Jesus was buried. Proof of death is necessary for a will to go into effect; therefore, the New Covenant is in effect. Why was Jesus raised? It is proof that all of his claims about himself are true. It also means that we, too, are raised to walk in the newness of life.

Whatever is True
Bob Christopher, Bob Davis
We get so much bad news in the world today and it's so easy to get sucked into that. But there's a solution to that. Paul tells us in Philippians 4:8 "Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things."

Walk the Way of Grace
Bob Christopher, Bob Davis
Romans 6:14 is a great passage for us: "For sin will have no dominion over you, since you are not under law but under grace." So what distinguishes us from the world? We're under grace, not the law. When we walk this true and begin to walk the way of grace you will stand out as someone different.

Take a Fresh Look at The Cross
Bob Christopher, Bob Davis
The grace of God is sufficient to meet every need of the human heart. It's the love of God that brings us assurance to live everyday. John, in his Gospel, only described himself as the one whom Jesus loved. "In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him. In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins." 1 John 4:9-10

Grace: Misconception #5
Bob Christopher, Bob Davis
A common misconception about the grace of God is that law and grace are equal. People try to balance the grace of God with the law. The law cannot save us - it merely diagnoses our spiritual condition. It points us to Jesus - the giver of life. Galatians 3:19-22 explains it this way: "Why, then, was the law given at all? It was added because of transgressions until the Seed to whom the promise referred had come. The law was given through angels and entrusted to a mediator. A mediator, however, implies more than one party; but God is one. Is the law, therefore, opposed to the promises of God? Absolutely not! For if a law had been given that could impart life, then righteousness would certainly have come by the law. But Scripture has locked up everything under the control of sin, so that what was promised, being given through faith in Jesus Christ, might be given to those who believe."

Promise, Presence, and Power
Bob Christopher, Bob Davis
There was no way to break free from the powers that held us - the power of sin and death - apart from the grace of God. We see God's promise, presence, and power through the work of Jesus Christ. Grace entails a promise. It also involves His presence. He wants to be present in our lives. And last we have power. The power of God to live upright and holy lives. His power is made perfect in weakness.
