Why is this so important? Because you have an accuser, an enemy, that stands against you. But you can rest in the reality that is found in Jesus Christ alone.

We had a question about repentance yesterday and it's such an important subject to understand. Repentance deals with going from unbelief to belief. It's a change of mind ... a change of heart. It's the grace of God that moves us to a new understanding. "do you presume on the riches of his kindness and forbearance and patience, not knowing that God's kindness is meant to lead you to repentance?" Romans 2:4

• I know repentance mean to change your mind. Is it wrong to teach that repentance mean to stop sinning?
• If God is all-knowing then he knew before Lucifer's creation that he would stray. That being said, how was Lucifer not created to be damned?
• John commented on one of our videos... "I feel like I've sinned to the point of a reprobate and now I'm his enemy. It's very scary."
• How are we supposed to live out "be perfect as your heavenly Father is perfect" when God knows we're not perfect? Matthew 5:43-48

Toward the end of his life Jesus gathered his disciples to prepare them for what was ahead. In John 13 Jesus chooses to wash the feet of the disciples. It was to show the full extent of his love. The next day he showed the ultimate act of love through his death on the cross. In the washing of the disciple's feet, he shared a new commandment. "A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another." John 13:34-35

A familiar passage in the Word is Ephesians 2:8-10. It begins "For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them." Ephesians 2:8-10 Everything we experience as believers is by grace through faith. There is nothing we can do to - salvation, eternal life, righteousness, holiness, etc. is a gift of God.

• What happens when your faith fails?
• Can a believer be filled with the spirit without speaking in tongues?
• And since the Bible refers to being sealed by the spirit, is speaking in tongues proof that one is sealed?

We've been talking about all the things religion can't do for us. We can't find rest in religion. We only find it in Christ. We can't find forgiveness in religion. We only find forgiveness in the finished work of Jesus Christ. Religion can't cleanse our consciousness. Only the sacrifice offered by Jesus can do that. "The blood of goats and bulls and the ashes of a heifer sprinkled on those who are ceremonially unclean sanctify them so that they are outwardly clean. How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death,so that we may serve the living God!" Hebrews 9:13-14

Religion can't give you a sense of being forgiven once and for all. When humanity invents a religion, they create a formula for you to follow. However, the Gospel claims that Jesus has cleansed us once and for all. Hebrews 10 proclaims this truth. We are totally forgiven people in Jesus Christ.

• Samuel wrote, "I was able to follow Christ in all simplicity by grace through faith just as Bob has been."
• Daniella asks about the blasphemy of the Holy Spirit and the spiritual attacks she's experiencing in her life creating dought of her salvation.
• There are many other verses that tell us that if we believe in Jesus we have eternal life, but the "depart from me I never knew you" is a very troubling verse to me.

How do we experience closeness to Jesus Christ? I hope that you see that God wants to be close to you and has initiated a plan to make that happen. "For on the one hand, a former commandment is set aside because of its weakness and uselessness (for the law made nothing perfect); but on the other hand, a better hope is introduced, through which we draw near to God." We all desire to experience being close to God. It is through Jesus' sacrifice that we are in union with God. Hebrews 10:19 says "Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus". Once we recognize exactly what the blood of Jesus did for us, we are given confidence. We know when Christ died on the cross, the curtain in the Temple tore from top to bottom, signifying that the way into God's presence was now open.

In 1 Corinthians 2 we see Paul defending his ministry. "For I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and him crucified." The message is Jesus Christ and Paul wanted that to be understood. "And I was with you in weakness and in fear and much trembling, and my speech and my message were not in plausible words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, so that your faith might not rest in the wisdom of men but in the power of God."

• Righteousness? Can you explain what that means for a Christian in the New Covenant?
• Does Luke 9:49-50 mean what it says- those who are not against us are for us? Does this mean anyone, no matter who?

We can truly experience joy and contentment in our Christian life. A lot of us spend our life in Christ looking forward to a future date. But, in Christ, we can be satisfied here and now. Instead of worry and fear, we can believe the promise of God to take care of us. Knowing that your contentment is rock solid in Christ will carry you through any circumstance you may experience.

Jude has some great encouragement for us as to how we can live as Children of God. "But you must remember, beloved, the predictions of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ. They said to you, 'In the last time there will be scoffers, following their own ungodly passions.'" Jude 1:17
