A familiar passage in the Word is Ephesians 2:8-10. It begins "For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them." Ephesians 2:8-10 Everything we experience as believers is by grace through faith. There is nothing we can do to - salvation, eternal life, righteousness, holiness, etc. is a gift of God.

• What happens when your faith fails?
• Can a believer be filled with the spirit without speaking in tongues?
• And since the Bible refers to being sealed by the spirit, is speaking in tongues proof that one is sealed?

One of the areas that religion has it all wrong is righteousness. Righteousness is God's to give and not ours to earn. Religion claims that we can earn it. But that's not how righteousness works. Aren't you glad? "But now apart from the Law the righteousness of God has been revealed, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, but it is the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all those who believe; ..." Romans 3:21-26

• Could you explain Romans 11:19-24 to me?
• Does every born again person have the Holy Spirit? If so why do some say "you are saved but now you need to be baptized in the Holy Spirit"?

Religion can't give you a sense of being forgiven once and for all. When humanity invents a religion, they create a formula for you to follow. However, the Gospel claims that Jesus has cleansed us once and for all. Hebrews 10 proclaims this truth. We are totally forgiven people in Jesus Christ.

• Samuel wrote, "I was able to follow Christ in all simplicity by grace through faith just as Bob has been."
• Daniella asks about the blasphemy of the Holy Spirit and the spiritual attacks she's experiencing in her life creating dought of her salvation.
• There are many other verses that tell us that if we believe in Jesus we have eternal life, but the "depart from me I never knew you" is a very troubling verse to me.

We put a lot of stock in our religious teaching and ceremonies. But the Bible tells us those are worthless. One of those things we can only find in Him is rest. "So then, there remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God, for whoever has entered God's rest has also rested from his works as God did from his." Hebrews 4:9-10 Are you willing to let go of your efforts and rest in Jesus Christ?

How do I draw near to God? It starts with Him and seeing what He's done for us in Christ Jesus. God desires to reveal himself to mankind. He has revealed himself in the person of Jesus Christ. Paul says, "For God, who said, 'Let light shine out of darkness,' made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God's glory displayed in the face of Christ" (2 Cor. 4:6). We needed the knowledge of the glory of God and when we respond to him, that knowledge is deposited into our heart. We call that truth.

We have many things to be grateful for and in light of the celebration of the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ we have the opportunity to experience the power of new life. We were stuck in our death and we need something to set us free. In Romans 6 Paul writes: "Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? ..." Romans 6:3-4

• Why is there a need for Jesus to continually intercede for us if God already desires the best for us?

It's Easter Week. We celebrate the most important event in human history. We started with Palm Sunday yesterday remembering how Jesus road triumphantly into Jerusalem on a donkey. We can also celebrate the day that Jesus road triumphantly into our own life. The resurrection is the single most important event we celebrate. As Paul stated: "and if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is in vain, your faith also is in vain." 1 Corinthians 15:14

• Mary Jo asks where the Scripture records that God's wrath is poured out upon Jesus?
• So, since we trust Jesus, and we have asked him to come into our hearts ... we are already forgiven. Is it unnecessary to ask for forgiveness? What if you do? Is it okay to ask for forgiveness?

The life God has for us is one of freedom and He has equipped us to experience that freedom in full. Often when we leave a place of bondage, it is hard to accept freedom and we easily fall back into bondage. When we move from self-effort to dependent on the Spirit, we see that our life of freedom is Spirit-led, from start to finish.

Today we recognize Martin Luther King Jr. and we want to remember all that he stood for. "Use me, God. Show me how to take who I am, who I want to be, and what I can do, and use it for a purpose greater than myself." is one of my favorite quotes of his.
