What is the Story of the Bible?
Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Andrew Farley
The Word of God from start to finish is God's testimony about his son. John 5:39-40 "You study the Scriptures diligently because you think that in them you have eternal life. These are the very Scriptures that testify about me, yet you refuse to come to me to have life." The story of the Bible is Jesus.

Stand Upon the Foundation
Bob Christopher, Bob Davis
We have to stand on the foundation of truth. Truth is pivotal. For everything... for every relationship we need a foundation of truth. Where do we go for truth? Jesus. He is the source of truth. We have Jesus as truth and the Word of God as truth and we have the Spirit of God who leads us into all truth. Paul wrote: "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work." 2 Timothy 3:16, 17

The Pioneer and Perfecter of Faith
Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer
Joy is something the message of Jesus causes in our hearts. And once it's there, it may be covered up... we may look elsewhere... experience other emotional things that cover it over... but that joy is still there. Sometimes we just need to rip away those barnacles and have that joy shine through us again. Hebrews 12:1 "Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us..." His joy imparted to us. The joy of the Lord is our strength.

It is by Grace You Are Saved
Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer, Andrew Farley
Ephesians 2:1-6 "As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins... But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions — it is by grace you have been saved." Until I understood what salvation was all about I struggled immensely in my Christian life. It's only when I found the way of grace that my life made sense. Salvation is first and foremost being made alive in Christ.

We Are Called to Love
Richard Peifer, Bob Davis
How do you have faith expressing itself through love? Paul offers several examples. In Romans 14 we read: "Accept the one whose faith is weak, without quarreling over disputable matters. One person's faith allows them to eat anything, but another, whose faith is weak, eats only vegetables." Neither should use this as a wedge to split the body of Christ. When you're in the Body of Christ you will meet all kinds of people and we have the opportunity to love one another without judgment.

The Only Thing That Counts
Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer
We're talking about the only thing that counts. Paul used that phrase in Galatians 5:6 and in context it reads like this: "It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery." There were "Judaizers" trying to convince new believers that they had to live as Jews under the law. But Paul writes: "For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision has any value. The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love."

Love Keeps No Record of Wrongs
Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer
Love keeps no records of wrongs. This makes no sense to us. It's illogical to us. We keep records for years. But that's just the opposite of love. When you look at the different translations of that phrase you really get the full meaning. When we're wronged we come up with a plan to get even. But God isn't about getting even with us. He's the one being offended all the times, but he's not making plans of revenge. He is love and everything he does is out of his love for us.

Demonstrative Love

Romans 5:8 "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." If we don't understand the love of God demonstrated at the cross, we're not going to understand the love of God. I know there are people worried sick that God is going to punish them. God is not punishing you for your sins. 2,000 yrs. ago Jesus saw every sin you would commit and took those sins upon himself and took the full wrath of God to pay your sin debt in full. His Love Made Complete
Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer
The reconciling work of Jesus really changes our minds. We receive his reconciliation and he has equipped us to be ministers of reconciliation. 1 John 4:12 "No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us." As his love changes who we are, we can pass his love to others. His love flows into the lives of others.

Love: The Heart of Reconciliation
Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer
Only the Gospel can meet the deep need of the heart. Jesus is the solution. He is the answer to all our problems. There is something so amazing and astonishing about Jesus that when he called his disciples they left everything to follow him. One of the things we learn about Jesus is that he reconciled us to himself on the cross. The heart of reconciliation is found in the definition of love. And we know that love keeps no record of wrongs. Records of wrongs divide, but love unites.

Reconciliation in Marriage
Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer
Reconciliation really sets the foundation for our relationship with God and it's also the foundation for our relationship with each other. And this is especially important in marriage. Marriage is hard enough and if you don't know the reconciliation you have from God it makes marriage that much more difficult. God was the one who was wronged, but he chose to initiate reconciliation toward us. And we can offer the love of God to those who have wronged us.

Hope for Here and Now
Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer
In light of this conversation on hope, I want to talk about our future. Paul writes: "I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us. For the creation waits in eager expectation for the children of God to be revealed. For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the freedom and glory of the children of God."

The Promise of God's Love

Romans 5 says "hope does not disappoint us" and that's the hope we have in Christ. Hope lifts us up. "And we boast in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope." We started with rejoicing and we come full circle and we see this hope solidified in our hearts because God has poured out His love in our heart.

Full of Grace and Truth
Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer
Merry Christmas to all of our listeners. I know there are many anticipating that special day. The Gospel of John doesn't really give an account of the birth of Christ. But in John 1:14 we read that, "The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.". Jesus was fully God and fully man at the same time we can't understand that. But it is true. Jesus came into this world full of grace and truth. If we want to know what's true in this world we have to look to Jesus.

Is Salvation Forever?
Bob Christopher, Bob Davis
Since Jesus Christ is alive, when we come to Him by faith, He comes to live in us. In marriage between believers Christ is in each one of you and provides unity in your marriage through Him. Today I want to challenge each of you who are married to thank God for your spouse. As you start saying "thank you" for the person God brought into your life... you will have a marriage that is strengthened in the Lord. Your marriage is a reflection of the relationship Jesus has with the church.
