It's important to understand faith because that's our way of life. We receive grace by faith, we live this Christian life by faith. James takes faith a step further and in chapter 2 asks the question: "What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them?" So are Paul and James at odds with each other?
