Forgiven or Judged

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

When we think about basic Gospel the first word that comes to mind is "forgiveness". You would think people would want to know that they have forgiveness.

  • If Jesus died for our sins, why do we have to stand before Him for judgment when we die?
  • Do people communicate with each other in Heaven?
  • The word "forgive" has to do with removing oneself from another. BC - also to "send away".
  • It's hard to find a church that teaches grace and fellowship with other like-minded believers.
  • Galatians 1:8-9 Was the Gospel only the death, the burial, and the resurrection of Christ or was there more?
  • Please help me understand "blasphemy of the Holy Spirit".

Life - Complete Salvation

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

The first word that comes to mind when we talk about the death, the burial, and the resurrection is "forgiveness". So many walk the aisle to receive forgiveness, but they miss the "life" aspect of salvation.

  • Could you read 1 John 1:9? I think most people understand that Jesus has washed our sins, but we still sin in the flesh.

Total Forgiveness of Sins

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

Most of us think we understand what Christ did on the cross. Jesus' act upon the cross was the demonstration of God's love for us.

  • I definitely believe that Jesus died for our sins, but the Lord's prayer states we have to ask for forgiveness.
  • In 1 John it says, "if we sin we can go to Him and ask for forgiveness and He will forgive us."
  • I've always been taught to use Romans 10:9-10 to share with a new believer.

In Him We Have Forgiveness

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

In the Word of God we have much about love. Why do you think Paul starts with "Love is patient"?

  • Did you state that we don't have to ask for forgiveness anymore?
  • How do you lead people to Christ through the Scripture? Why does Peter say "repent and be baptized" to be saved? Acts 2:38
  • I'm skeptical about being forgiven one time. Are you suggesting that if you've repented once you don't need to repent again? Is it possible to fall away?

Love Fulfilled

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

I look at 1 Corinthians 13 as being fulfilled through Christ.

  • What's your definition of a vow? Should Christians be making vows?
  • God loved Jacob, but hated Esau. Was God's love conditional in the Old Testament.
  • Was Solomon saved? Did he repent or not?
  • We can rejoice and give thanks for the Gospel and hope of Jesus Christ.
  • Is it plausible that (some expressions) of tongues are demonic?
  • Can I trust what I read from a Hebrew Bible scholar?

Love is...

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

Christianity is filled with people who think they have it all together. That used to be me. In those days I was so on to the church because of their lack of doing something for those in need. That led me to look at my lack and I became a "Big Brother".

  • In 1 Corinthians 15 Paul writes that Christ will become subject to God. Where is Christ going to be that God will be all in all?
  • Is Hades Hell? Does Hell exist now?
  • Please give your insight on Romans 7:25.

Rejoice in the Work of Christ

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

Because of Jesus' act upon the cross He has dealt with sin once for all. What does God do when we sin today? Does He punish us or turn His back on us?

  • Have I done enough to get to Heaven?
  • Is the gift of tongues a heavenly language? Is it of the Holy Spirit?
  • I'm saved, but at times I hear this voice that says I'm not saved. How do I overcome this doubt?
  • How can an atheist make it to Heaven if he doesn't believe in God?

Jesus Took the Punishment

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

We have been set free. Free from fear and free from punishment.

  • According to Scripture you can't enter Heaven if you're a backslider. How can you support "once saved, always saved" if that is true?
  • I understand as a believer I don't want to sin and that in Christ I'm forgiven. But what are the physical consequences of sin?
  • Can you explain about Ephesians 5:3-20 concerning not falling into sin?

He Cares for Us

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

So often we ask "what do we do when we sin?" But perhaps a better question is "what does God do when we sin?" Read the latest blog post at basicgospel.net and join the discussion.

  • If you know you're a believer and yet continue to sin, you must fear God, right? What does it mean to "fear God"?
  • I haven't been going to church due to work. However, I feel the church I've been attending is turning their back on me. What should I do?
