Come to a Knowledge of the Truth

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

We're on the eve of the inauguration of a new president. History in the making. The peaceful transfer of power is just miraculous to see. The previous administration will welcome the new administration. We get a chance to see the brilliance of the republic that was put into place. So what is our role in this? Paul wrote to Timothy: "I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people—for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness." If we'll earnestly pray with hearts filled with gratitude and thanksgiving we can be part of the solution.

  • Lynn asks about predestination. Can we resist God's will?
  • Daniel wonders if you should tithe from something you sell.

The Love of God Infused in Us

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer, Andrew Farley

We need a solid foundation to stand upon if life is going to be lived differently as believers. 1 John 4:7, 8 "Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love." If we're going to know God we're going to know love. We have an innate love within us for each other which creates unity among believers.

  • Does God have conditions places on his love for us?
  • Clint asks if comparing our righteousness to that of Paul or Jesus is an accurate portrayal.

Believe and Receive

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

We live in the "google" age. It seems there is no question that you can't find a "google" answer. One of those questions often asked is "how do I become a Christian?" Unfortunately, many of the answers are not correct. The answer is found in Romans 10:9: "If you declare with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." At salvation, we go from death to life and become a brand new creation.

  • Clay asks about Romans 6:20-23 concerning who or what we are under the control of.
  • Abraham asks if we're expected to pay the tithe.

Freedom in Christ Alone

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

It's a special day across America. It's Martin Luther King Jr. day. His drive for equal rights continues to this day. It's a difficult to get laws on the books into the depths of people's hearts. Jesus said, "Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free." The power of God sets people free. True freedom is found in Jesus Christ alone. John 8:34-38 "Jesus replied, "Very truly I tell you, everyone who sins is a slave to sin. ..."

  • How can children and babies go to Heaven if we were all born sinners?
  • Did Sarah have any knowledge of God telling Abraham to sacrifice Isaac before the event took place?

Living a Sunday Life in a Friday World - Lesson 40

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

The wonderful S. M. Lockridge delivered the powerful and moving sermon titled, "It's Friday, but Sunday's Coming." It's a sermon that fills that darkest day with light and hope. Sunday is here. Jesus walked out of that tomb and he lives today. Have you come to know this story? Have you found what you are looking for in the person of Jesus Christ? If so, the resurrection story has become your story. Sunday is here for you. But not for the world. It's still Friday for this world of darkness. This raises an important question: How do you live a Sunday life in a Friday world? Let's find out... (Chapter 13, page 93)

The Word Was God

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

How do we find a firm foundation? How do we keep our feet on solid ground? John starts his Gospel account, "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. ... The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth." John 1, 2, 14

It is By Grace You Have Been Saved

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

Bob shares the rest of Paul's story - our last caller from yesterday. Paul prayed to receive Christ. Paul crossed over from death to life. In John 5:24 we read: "Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life." And Ephesians 2:4-5 Paul writes: "But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved."

  • Is it possible that Jesus could have visited other people and places after the Bible?
  • Is our story the best tool for discipleship and evangelism?

Free to Enjoy a Relationship with God

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

Jesus' blood was sufficient to take away every sin. When we come to Christ we are made alive and we receive forgiveness of sins. We stand before God as forgiven people. Colossians 1:19, 20 "For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross."

The Deepest Need

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

Jesus Christ is the chief cornerstone. He is our life. Why did we need life? We were spiritually dead. The life of God departed Adam on the day he sinned. We read that the Gospel is the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus. Paul writes: "As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins..." Ephesians 2:1

  • Vernon asks about "grieving the Holy Spirit". Is it a matter of falling in and out of favor with Jesus?

Don't Look Back - Lesson 39

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

One of the lessons of life is that we can't go back. The only option is to move forward. The same is true for the Christian life. We can't go from belief to unbelief. Why would we want to? You died to sin, to unbelief. The old you is gone. You are new in Jesus, equipped to live a life of faith, hope, and love. So what does the scripture say to you? Press on! It takes courage, but experiencing the life of Jesus is worth everything. This is what he saved you for. (Chapter 12, page 91)
