Love is Active

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

It's the attitude of humility that puts us in a position to receive the love of God poured out in Christ Jesus. Love is active. The definition of love is all about action and we read about it in 1 Corinthians 13. IF we're going to love people, we need to first learn how God loves us.

A Story of Humility

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

Christmas is a story about humility. God took on flesh and became one of us. It's a story that begins in our hearts in the same way. God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble. Philippians 2:5-8 "Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus ... And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross." When we understand what humility is all about then we'll be able to understand the fullness of the Christmas.

1 John - Part 8 - Truth and Error

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

How do we discern between truth and error. In the church today there is a lack of discernment. If someone is slick and persuasive we are gullible and easily led astray. God tells us to "test the spirits". Test everything through God's Word. 1 John 4:1- "Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world." God brings clarity to the mind. He brings a clear message. How do we test the spirits? How do we tell whether something is truth or false? There's only one message that's bears the fruit of life and love and that is the message concerning Jesus and Jesus alone.

The Ministry of Reconciliation

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

The definition of love is written for us in 1 Corinthians 13 and it starts in verse 4. " Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way ... hopes all things, endures all things." Love is always God's plan. When we here, "God is love", this is what he means. God doesn't keep records or wrongs nor is he resentful of us and we can read about that in 2 Corinthians 5:18,19 "All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation...". We have the privilege to take the message of reconciliation to the world.

A More Excellent Way

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

We're talking about love this month. And the Christmas season is a demonstration of the love of God for each one of us. God so loved that He sent Jesus. Paul declares there's a more excellent way. And the way is the way of love. Paul writes about this in 1 Corinthians 13.

God So Loved...

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

1 John 4:7,8 "Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. ... God is love." What motivated God to send His Son into the world? His love. God so loved that he gave.

1 John - Part 7 - Love One Another

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

Let us love one another. John helps us to understand how to make that happen. When we come to faith in Jesus, we receive a brand new heart. This is what makes loving one another a reality in our life. It all depends on who we belong to. If we belong to darkness, loving one another is impossible. If we belong to the light, then the natural response will be to love each other. We will see genuine fellowship among children of God and Christ's love will overflow to others.

Consider it Pure Joy

Rest for the Weary

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

There's no rest for the weary under legalism. There's no rest until you find the grace of God. Colossians 2:21-23 "Do not handle, Do not taste, Do not touch" (referring to things that all perish as they are used)—according to human precepts and teachings? These have indeed an appearance of wisdom in promoting self-made religion and asceticism and severity to the body, but they are of no value in stopping the indulgence of the flesh.

  • Peggy calls to share her heartbreak over her son who was murdered and asks for prayer to live in peace and joy in Christ.
  • Patricia shares her thankfulness concerning her sisters and asks for prayer for others.
  • Since the Bible is so important to our understanding God, how can I select the right translation?
