1 John - Part 10 - Three That Testify

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

The book of 1 John is relevant in our every day life. Today's conclusion gives us wonderful assurance. God's testimony concerning Jesus was given to the apostles to make Him known to us. They were eyewitnesses to Jesus and their letters make Him known to all who believe. 1 John 5:11-13 "And this is the testimony, that God gave us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life. I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life."

Christ Alive in You

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer, Andrew Farley

This Jesus that was born 2,000 years ago has come to live in us by faith. Paul put it this way in Colossians 1:27 "To them God chose to make known how great among the Gentiles are the riches of the glory of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory." If there's one thing we could communicate to people it would be that Christ is living in you.

A Light Has Dawned

Richard Peifer, Bob Davis

Isaiah 9:1-8 is one of the greatest messianic prophecies of the Old Testament. The most important part of this passage is the last part, "The zeal of God Almighty will do this." This is what we see when light came into the world through the person of Jesus Christ. This light is what we celebrate this and every Christmas.

Your Faith and Hope in God

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

We're getting closer to Christmas - the day we celebrate Jesus becoming one of us. This wasn't a plan a, b, or c. This was the plan from the beginning. He was know before the foundation of the world. In 1 Peter 1:20-21 "He was foreknown before the foundation of the world but was made manifest in the last times for the sake of you who through him are believers in God, who raised him from the dead and gave him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God."

  • Betty is concerned about those who have backslid. Is there a chance for them. She references Hebrews 6:4-6, 10:26-29.
  • Is Revelation 21:8 talking about magicians like Chris Angel in Las Vegas or David Copperfield?
  • Antoine comments about the church being made holy and blameless.

1 John - Part 9 - The God of Love

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

There was a point in Jesus ministry where He asked His disciples this compelling question,"Who do you say that I am?" Peter answered "You are the Christ, the son of the living God" John heard Peter make that declaration. All of us who are in the true fellowship, who have been born again, have made that exact same confession. For those who have made that confession, God abides in him and he in God. We were once in Adam, now we are in Christ.

The Love of God Poured Out

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

We've been talking about the fifteen action statements about God's love in 1 Corinthians 13. Love is an action. "Love does not rejoice at wrong doing, but it rejoices with the truth." Luke says for those that repent and come alive, there's rejoicing in Heaven. Why? Because it's a celebration of new life. This is the love of God. It's not a feeling. It's a fact. God demonstrated his love toward us through the cross. Love never fails - it never falls away.
