The Path Forward

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Andrew Farley

Today is a special day on Basic Gospel. We are happy to announce that Basic Gospel will transition to The Grace Message effective January 1, 2022. We know that God has orchestrated this decision and that the message of God's grace will reach even more people. The path forward is crystal clear. At the end of the year, Andrew will take the lead. There's no real ending to this endeavor ... just a new way forward.

One Spirit with God

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

How does the Gospel impact you on a day-to-day basis? Everyone wants to be close to God. Nearly every religion focusses on how to draw near to God. We can only draw near to God through the reality of the Gospel. Paul writes: "But he who is joined to the Lord becomes one spirit with him." 1 Corinthians 6:17

A Better Hope

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

How do we experience closeness to Jesus Christ? I hope that you see that God wants to be close to you and has initiated a plan to make that happen. "For on the one hand, a former commandment is set aside because of its weakness and uselessness (for the law made nothing perfect); but on the other hand, a better hope is introduced, through which we draw near to God." Hebrews 7:18-19

Jesus Cleared the Way

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

Under the Old Covenant, the fact that the sin issue was never dealt with once and forever, meant that there was always a division - the sin barrier - that kept the worshipper separated from God. Hebrews 10:1-4, 14.

Holy and Blameless

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

We know intuitively that God is holy. We know that His character and essence is far beyond ours. Through his reconciling work on the cross, Jesus presents us to God as holy and blameless. Hebrews 10:10 puts it this way: "And by that will, we have been made holy through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all." He made us holy so that he could dwell within us.

Clean and Pure

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

We all desire to experience being close to God. It is through Jesus' sacrifice that we are in union with God. Hebrews 10:19 says "Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus". Once we recognize exactly what the blood of Jesus did for us, we are given confidence. We know when Christ died on the cross, the curtain in the Temple tore from top to bottom, signifying that the way into God's presence was now open.

God's Eternal Character

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Andrew Farley

The gospel of Jesus Christ really tells us that God is good. It is his eternal character. You don't have to wonder how God feels about you. He has said he freely has given you all things. He says you're blessed with every spiritual blessings. God is greater than you can every imagine.

As Close As You Can Be

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

How do I draw near to God? How do I experience His presence? Often people feel they have to earn the right to be close to God. But the grace of God has a different story. The sin barrier that stood between you and God was removed at the cross of Christ. This 'drawing near' is a response of faith to the grace of God. We are one, in union, with God through His Spirit. We are as close to God as we will ever be.

The Dividing Wall

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

Discussion about Afghanistan and the hurricane in Haiti. There's so much going on in the world. We have to turn to Jesus Christ and the Gospel. Ephesians 2 speaks to this: "For he himself is our peace, who has made the two groups one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility". In Christ, we can be at peace with another. This has huge implications to us individually, but also to the world around us.

Closeness With God is Ours

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

If you are going through trials and tribulations, you can know that the Holy Spirit is going through them with you. Christ is in you and you are in Christ. God removed the sin barrier once and for all. The reconciling work of Christ is the cleansing agent and being saved by his life is the closeness. Dimitrius asks what is sin consciousness and how do we become Christ-conscious? Deborah asks if there is a difference between water baptism and the baptism of the Holy Spirit? Anissa wonders what happens when we die; when the soul leaves the body, does it go to Heaven or wait for Judgement Day.
