Today we look at Jesus. The writer of Hebrews takes great care to teach us who Jesus is and why he is superior. He is the creator and master of angels. They worship and serve him. His words carry more weight than the words of angels. There is no greater messenger than Jesus and there is no greater message that the gospel.

Here's a prayer that will establish you in life. It's what Paul prayed for the E and what we should pray for one another. Ephesians 3:14-19 " ... according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love ... filled with all the fullness of God." We'll never be able to pass on the love of God if we're not first rooted and grounded in the love of God.

How do we grow in the grace of God? How do we stand firm and established in the truth? 1 Thessalonians 3:1-5 "Therefore when we could bear it no longer, we were willing to be left behind at Athens alone, 2 and we sent Timothy, our brother and God's coworker in the gospel of Christ, to establish and exhort you in your faith, ..." By grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone you become established in Him and grow in your Christian life.

It is a special day in the United States today. It's Martin Luther King Jr. Day. And the effects of what he accomplished are still working today. So many times we make judgments based on what we see and not how God sees them. Instead we should treat others as we treat ourselves. The Gospel has sent Jesus for all people. Romans 10:11-13 declares: "For the Scripture says, 'Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame.'" ... For "everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."

Hebrews is one of the most compelling books in the Bible. Some say it's the pinnacle. It paints a picture of Christ like no other book in the Bible. We are limiting today's broadcast to the first 4 verses (Hebrews 1:1-4) of the first chapter because they summarize the entire book. No one knows who the human author was of this book; certainly we know that it was authored by the Holy Spirit. This will be a fascinating in-depth study.

How do we grow in the knowledge of Christ Jesus? By getting the basics right. Without the basics you will never grow. Peter said, "you'll be nearsighted and blind". Romans 7:1-6 "Or do you not know, brothers—for I am speaking to those who know the law—that the law is binding on a person only as long as he lives? ... Likewise, my brothers, you also have died to the law through the body of Christ, so that you may belong to another, to him who has been raised from the dead, in order that we may bear fruit for God. "

Our relationship with Christ Jesus changes everything. Paul talks about the change throughout his letters and he uses a catchphrase - "Do you not know...". One of those occasions is found is the question Paul answers one of those questions in Romans 6 "What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound? By no means! How can we who died to sin still live in it? Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death?"

Peter writes: "His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence ... " 2 Peter 3, 9, 12-15 So why are so many believers not experiencing life if full? Peter states it's because he has " ...forgotten that he was cleansed from his former sins". If we don't understand forgiveness we're never going to grow in grace. We need to get the fundamentals right. And when we do we will grow in grace.
