Saved Through His Life

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

Reconciliation is a powerful subject. We don't use it everyday, but we see it in the Word of God. In Romans 5:9 - 10 we read, "Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God's wrath through him! For if, while we were God's enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life!" The death of Christ reconciled us to God. So now there's nothing standing in our way to a relationship to His Son.

Jesus Christ is Alive!

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

Jesus Christ is Alive! There is no better news than that. God has invited us to participate in the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ. God had a plan and His plan was reconciliation. This month we're really going to get to the heart and soul of resurrection. 2 Corinthians 5:17-21 "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!"

The Mercy of God

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

2 Corinthians 4:1 "Therefore, since through God's mercy we have this ministry, we do not lose heart." Mercy is all about action. It's a matter of not only seeing the problem, it's extending help. When God through his mercy equips us to bring the message of the New Covenant, the mercy he pours into us, to allow us to pour into the lives of others.

New Covenant Life—Faith, Hope and Love - Lesson 20

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

The qualities of the New Covenant are exhibited by three things: faith, hope, and love. This life of faith springs from hope. We are helpless and hopeless before coming to know Christ. Hope is a marvelous word. In the Bible the word hope is defined in a marvelous way. The Greek word means "desire of some good with the expectation of obtaining it". This "expectation" is the difference between hope as experienced by a lost person and hope as experienced by a child of God. Hope gives us assurance and confidence and a firm foundation for faith. The writer of Hebrews calls it an anchor for our soul. Your future is guaranteed by Jesus. He is God Almighty. He is coming again. He is going to recreate the universe. And he gave you the Holy Spirit to prove that his promise is a guarantee, a statement of fact. That is hope!

Jesus, I'm Yours

Richard Peifer, Bob Davis

Romans 12:1 "Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship." God looked at us dead in sin, he had compassion towards us - his mercies, - therefore he initiated his mercy - that is his intent to rescues us - and in view of that we should offer yourself as living sacrifices. This is your spiritual or logical act of worship.

  • Brad encourages listeners to grab hold of the mercy that comes to us through the grace of God.
  • If we are 100% forgiven of all sins past, present, and future, and no longer judged for sins committed after we accept Christ, what is the meaning of chastisement found in Hebrews 12:5-6?

I Was Shown Mercy

Richard Peifer, Bob Davis, Andrew Farley

1 Timothy 1:12-17 "I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has given me strength, that he considered me trustworthy, appointing me to his service. ... I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his immense patience as an example for those who would believe in him and receive eternal life." So often we think our sins are too many for God, but when we read this passage in 1 Timothy we see the reality that Christ took away every single one of our sins. If a persecutor of the Church could be forgiven, how much more can we be forgiven.

  • What is it about the Gospel that frees us from having expectation of God that other Christians have?
  • Revelation 2:5 says to "repent". How does that compare to the once-for-all forgiveness idea?
  • I continually ask Christ for confirmation in my heart that I am His and all my sins are forgiven, but I am experiencing constant doubt that He loves me.

The Gospel is Bearing Fruit

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

If I had one book to teach it would be the letter to the Colossians. In chapter 1:6 we read "the gospel is bearing fruit and growing throughout the whole world—just as it has been doing among you since the day you heard it and truly understood God's grace." It's the truth about God's grace that transforms. What does His death, burial and resurrection mean to each one of us? Are you seeing the evidence of God's grace in your life?

Past, Present, Future — All Sins Forgiven

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

When we think about mercy, forgiveness comes to mind. In Colossians 2:13 we read, "When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins, having canceled the charge of our legal indebtedness, which stood against us and condemned us; he has taken it away, nailing it to the cross." We are forgiven, past, present, and future. Jesus forgave all our sins.

New Covenant Life—Faith, Hope and Love - Lesson 19

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

What is the New Covenant life? Faith, Hope and Love! In these final sessions, we will put all the pieces together. Your life is to be rooted in faith, hope and love. These great themes bring you back to the God who started it all. Today we look at faith. We are saved by grace, through faith in Jesus Christ. We often think of faith just in terms of the doctrines of Christianity. But the "how to", the practical application of faith seems to elude us and we tend to fall back to rules and regulations. Faith is based on reality, not fantasy. As children of God, the reality of Jesus is the foundation of faith. Apart from Him, there is no faith. We need to be convinced that Jesus is truly God in the flesh, that He came to take away sins, that He died to take away our sins, that He was buried and rose again on the third day that we might have life. When we hear that message, then faith can become a reality to us. Thanks for joining us today! (Chapter 9, page 95)

Made One in Christ

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

Why is predestination such a dividing line in the body of Christ? When you read and understand what it means it's a unifying truth. Those who were once opposed to each other are made one in Christ. The Gospel went from Jew to Samaritan to Gentile. The mystery was those being made one. When we overlay predestination on that we see it was God's purpose from the beginning.
