Hope: An Anchor for Our Souls

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer, Andrew Farley

Hebrews 7:18-19 We talk about hearing, believing, and living the good news. And one of those things we have is hope. In Hebrews 7:18-19 we read: "The former regulation is set aside because it was weak and useless (for the law made nothing perfect), and a better hope is introduced, by which we draw near to God." Hope is mentioned nearly 150 times in the Bible and Hebrews mentions is 7 times. Hope is an anchor and that anchor is in Jesus Christ and we learn than when we let God prove Him self to us.

Jesus is Our Hope

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

When we talk about hope we have to talk about Christ Jesus because He is the real hope. We look at the Old Testament and see that the Israelites lived in hope of the coming Messiah. When Jesus appeared they had that hope realized.

Hope

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

It's always exciting to start a new year. It is a great time to hit the reset button and figure out what we want to do this year. And we've done that at Basic Gospel. This year we're going to take a look at some key Biblical words. What is needed more than anything else today? Hope. What the world is looking for is hope. "For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have hope." Romans 15:4

Welcome to the New

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

A special New Year's Day broadcast from Basic Gospel. So many make resolutions for the new year looking for new hope. But our real hope is found in Jesus Christ. I like the word "new." I'll bet you do too. It is an exciting word, especially when it is attached to things like cars, houses, gadgets and even the New Year. We all like "new" things and we want "new" things. Are you in Christ? If so, for you the old has gone and the new has come.

  • A new life - Romans 6:4.
  • A new identity - John 1:12.
  • A new self - Ephesians 4:24.
  • A new heart - Ezekiel 36:26.
  • A new covenant - Hebrews 9:15.
  • A new command - John 13:34.

Thank You

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

As we come to the end of this year, we want to say "thank you" to you have partnered with us in the ministry. We certainly know that without those who stand with us, we wouldn't be able to proclaim the good news of Christ across these airwaves. We look forward to what God has in the new year.

Press on Toward the Goal

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

Here's what Paul had to say in the letter to the Philippians 3:13, 14 "Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus." Let's press on to what God has in store for us. Our hearts overflow in thankfulness with what God has done for us. And when we do, we can press on toward the the goal - heavenward in Christ Jesus.

Remember Your Blessings

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

As we move ever close to the end of the year it's important to remember all the blessings of this year. Psalm 103 states it simply: "Praise the Lord, my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name. Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all his benefits—who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's." Thank you to each one of you who partner with us through your prayers and finances in the ministry of Basic Gospel.

Lost in Adam - Restored in Christ

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

It was a wonderful Christmas and we continued a tradition that my dad started - reading the story of the birth of Christ from Luke. The good news is that what had been lost in Adam has been restored in Christ. So often we look at Christmas as simply what's in it for us. But the reality it is all about Jesus.

  • Can women be a pastor or teach? And can you explain 1 Corinthians 14:34 and Galatians 3:28?
  • Is there any role that we play in the process of being made like Christ?
  • How do we put on the full armor of God?

Dancing in Grace

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer, Teresa Costello

Teresa Costello is our special guest on today's broadcast. Teresa powerfully illustrates the Basic Gospel tagline - Hear It, Believe It, and Live It. She tuned into the broadcast and her life was radically changed. She heard the gospel, was challenged to believe and now sees it lived out in her life. Freed from condemnation and guilt, Teresa now describes her life as "dancing in grace". Teresa says "I no longer feel condemned, unworthy or confused. A veil has been lifted and now I read the Word through grace."
