Forgiveness and Salvation

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

I was asked this morning what is the most asked question on the broadcast. I answered, "Forgiveness of sins and assurance of salvation". Those are the two most important issues. We could discuss so many things. But when it comes to individuals, that's what we want to know. And that's why we're here... to discuss those important issues.

  • 2 Timothy 3:12 states, "In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted...". Does this mean if we're not persecuted we aren't living a godly life?
  • Jon asks: "how can I reconcile the wrath of God in the Old Testament and the love of God in the New Testament"?
  • Clay calls to talk about "Simple Gospel, Simply Grace". "Your book found me... I don't read anything other than Scripture. But I'm reading your book."
  • I can't seem to believe in Jesus like I used to. I'm in really bad shape.

Open Your Eyes and See

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

Many times we feel like those written about in Isaiah 63:15 "Look down from heaven and see, from your lofty throne, holy and glorious. Where are your zeal and your might? Your tenderness and compassion are withheld from us." Unfortunately their eyes and hearts were fixed on the world and they couldn't see what God had for them. It's often the same for us. Open your eyes and see the kindness of Jesus.

  • How do I know if I've committed the unpardonable sin?
  • Who is Paul referring to in 2 Corinthians 11:3?
  • What did Jesus mean by "Anyone who loves their father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; anyone who loves their son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me." Matthew 10:37

A Living Hope Through the Resurrection

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

We all look for hope in life. Without hope we just wither up and die. We see that all over the world. But there is only one genuine hope and that's the hope that Jesus brings us. It's not temporary. It's eternal. We see this demonstrated in the story of Lazarus. Rather hope in this life it's hope in the eternal. A living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ is what we have.

  • Does God chasten us for our sins? Isn't that what the Scripture teaches?
  • Kenny comments about having proper discernment.
  • Hebrews 10:1 "The law is only a shadow of the good things that are coming—not the realities themselves. For this reason it can never, by the same sacrifices repeated endlessly year after year, make perfect those who draw near to worship."

True Hope

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

Repentance is something that God motivates in each one of us. And it's more to the heart issue than what we're doing. When we look at the story of Lazarus we see Mary and Martha putting their hope in the physical. But the real hope is in the spiritual - the eternal. Jesus showed them through Lazarus' death and resurrection true hope.
