Godly Sorrow Brings Repentance

Richard Peifer, Bob Davis, Andrew Farley

Paul gives us a great example of repentance in his second letter to the Corinthians 2 Corinthians 7:8-13 "Even if I caused you sorrow by my letter, I do not regret it. Though I did regret it—I see that my letter hurt you, but only for a little while— yet now I am happy, not because you were made sorry, but because your sorrow led you to repentance..." When we repentant and turn toward God we will find His kindness and mercy.

From Unbelief to Belief

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

What does it mean to repent? It's a big word we use so often in Christian conversations. It seems that there's lots of confusion in the word "repentance". We see it several time in Scripture. So what does it really mean to repent? Do we do this on our own or does God initiate it?

Repentance: A Change of Mind

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

The story of death is the lead chapter of the Gospel. Without it, there is no resurrection. Today we're going to look at repentance. What is true repentance? We let go. We change our minds concerning our old way of life. And we turn to Christ for His life. Romans 7:9-12 "Once I was alive apart from the law; but when the commandment came, sin sprang to life and I died. I found that the very commandment that was intended to bring life actually brought death..."

I Want to Know the Power...

Richard Peifer, Bob Davis

We've been looking at two questions all week: "How can I call myself a Christian but experience so little power for change?" and "How can I be so sincere and eager, yet struggle so much with temptation?" Thankfully Paul has an answer for us in Philippians 3:13-14 "Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus."

First Life. Then Change.

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

Through our prayers, church attendance and other things we expect something to happen. But all too often the harder we try the more those problems overcome us. If you're struggling in your Christian experience maybe it's because you've never come to Christ for life. Once He gives you life then you'll see changes in behavior. First Life. Then Change.

Reconciled and Made Alive

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer, Andrew Farley

We're celebrating 30 years of delivering the simple good news of Jesus Christ. He gave His life for us so that He could give His life to us and ultimately live His life through us. All too often people stop at the crucifixion and miss the resurrection. His life is our hope. He is the source of life.

God is Not Counting Your Sin Against You

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

Jesus' death, burial, and resurrection brings us to that good news that He is alive. When I saved I thought Jesus was here to help me be a better Christian. Every step I took forward was followed by two steps back. And that left me with two questions: How can I call myself a Christian but experience so little power for change? How can I be so sincere and eager, yet struggle so much with temptation?

The True Grace of God

Bob Christopher, Richard Peifer

We've been talking about how the grace of God is more than just a covering for sin. It's a present tense word. It's a powerful word. It moves us into our future. Because of grace you will never be out of His favor. If your in Christ, you're within the very favor of God. Often we equate the grace message with Paul, but even Peter preached grace. In 1 Peter 5:12 he writes: "...I have written to you briefly, encouraging you and testifying that this is the true grace of God. Stand fast in it." and in 2 Peter 3:18 "But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen."

God's Grace is Sufficient

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer, Andrew Farley

So often people think of grace as just a covering of their past. But grace is more of a present tense word. It helps us right now and continues into our future. 2 Corinthians 12:9 "But he said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.' Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me."
