Give God's Grace a Chance

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer, Andrew Farley

When Jesus died this New Covenant went into effect. And it's important that we recognize we are new covenant. In the New we find the ability to say "no" to sin. So often we're asked to compromise grace. But if we compromise grace you compromise my victory over sin. Grace teaches us to "live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age."

  • When we pass away do we go straight to Heaven?
  • No matter how hard I try not to sin I still sin. What is true grace?
  • My wife divorced me last year. I long to have a kind and honest relationship with her but I am torn as to the issue of forgiveness with her and her new man. I honestly don't know what God expects of me. Can you please help?
  • Thank you. I lived in condemnation for so many years.
  • Where and when does the Holy Spirit come on us?

Grace Says "No" to Sin

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

One of the basic truths that we find is that we are New Covenant Christians. This is a covenant of grace. There's a big distinction between the old and the new. The Old shows us our sin and the wages for sin - which is death. The Old doesn't teach us to say "no" to sin. But in Titus 2:12 we find that "[grace] teaches us to say 'No' to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age,"

  • Is "the all things for life and godliness" the Holy Spirit?
  • In Matthew 7:23 Jesus says, "Then I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!'" What did Jesus mean by this?
  • What does Hebrews 9:27 mean? "Just as people are destined to die once, and after that to face judgment"

We Are New Covenant Believers

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

When we read the New Covenant we find that it's to the Israelites. So where do those of us who are Gentiles fit in? In 2 Corinthians 3:6 we read, "He has made us competent as ministers of a new covenant—not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life." And Hosea 2:23 God declares, "I will say to those called 'Not my people,' 'You are my people'; and they will say, 'You are my God.'" We are New Covenant Believers.

The Gospel of Grace

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

Paul wrote in Colossians 1:6 "the gospel is bearing fruit and growing throughout the whole world—just as it has been doing among you since the day you heard it and truly understood God's grace." The Gospel of Jesus Christ is the gospel of grace. It is the very source of everything we need. The truth that sets us free is the Gospel of Grace.

  • Being set free from the law allows William to be used by God where He sees fit.
  • Daniel wants to know about repent and repentance.
  • How do we deal with sin after we become a Christian? How does grace work if we just keep sinning?
  • I don't get why people pray for something and, if they get it, they think it was their prayer and faith and, if they don't get it, they think they don't have enough faith!

What Grace Can Do For You! - part 2

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

When we talk about grace we're really talking about Jesus. So in this world we live in today, it's all about us. We're always wondering, "what's in it for me?" So what's in grace for us? What Grace Can Do For You!

Bob Christopher, Richard Peifer

The grace of God is the heart and soul of the Gospel. So often our definitions of grace simply fall short of the fullness found in the reality of grace. Almost every theologian wants to know more about the grace of god than anything else. We find several benefits of grace through the Scriptures: It redeems us. It saves us. It makes us alive. It justifies. It teaches us to say "no" to sin. This is an incredible reality and all of it a free gift from God.

  • Many early church fathers believed one could lose their salvation. If this is so what hope does one have?
  • I know God is love. In light of that why did God kill and destroy people in the Old Covenant?
  • Please explain Revelation 22:12, "Look, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to each person according to what they have done."

"Now This is Eternal Life..."

Bob Christopher, Richard Peifer

We're talking about the finished work of Jesus Christ. It's the one thing that can change everything in our lives. One phrase that sums it up is "It is finished." In Hebrews 10 we find out what that really meant. Because Jesus shed His blood once and for all He has made us holy and perfect. In Jesus' last few moments He goes to the garden to pray. He prays that eternal life be given to man. John 17:3 "Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent."

Rest with God

Bob Christopher, Richard Peifer

When we come to know who Christ really is, what He has accomplished for us, and who He is in us, we can really understand who we are. We can see who God really intended us to be. In the Gospel message we experience the death of the old man so we can live the life of the new man. We're called to enter the rest God has provided in Christ Jesus.
