I No Longer Live...

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer, Andrew Farley

Galatians 2:20 is really the heart and soul of the Gospel. "I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me." There's the Gospel message in the most succinct description of the Christian life. God is spelling His love out in us by living His life through us. So what's our role... to walk by faith in Christ.

Christ's Love Compels Us

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

There's this idea of living the Christian life. But how do we do that? 2 Corinthians 6:14-15 "For Christ's love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died. And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again." Everything hinges on the love of Jesus Christ.

The Most Excellent Way

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

Chapter 13 of 1 Corinthians is one of the most beautiful passages in the Word of God. "Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres."

Nothing Can Separate Us

Richard Peifer, Bob Davis

Today, the day before Valentine's Day, I thought I'd share a passage to help us understand the love of God in the midst of our daily lives. Romans 8:31-39 "What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?... [nothing] will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord."

His Love Poured Out

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

We've been looking at the love God has for us. One of my favorite is Romans 5:8. Is verse 5 we read, "And hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured out into our hearts...While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." This is one of those verses that gives us the courage to stand up to that "sin bully" and say "I've had enough". Because we've been justified and reconciled, we've been saved from God's wrath. It's been removed once for all through Christ's death.

The Truth of God's Love

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

There's no greater thrill or joy then when people know for sure that nothing can separate them from the love of God. Yesterday Tony said he practically lives on 1 John 1:9 and it wasn't in a good way. So let's look at the truth of the love of God as it relates to forgiveness.

"Remain in My Love"

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

Can you imagine sitting around the table at The Last Supper and Jesus saying to His disciples, "As the Father has loved Me, so I love you"? That applies to us as well. Just as the Father loves the Son, so the Son loves us. And Jesus adds, "remain in My love".

The Full Extent of His Love

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

John 13:1 is a powerful verse. "It was just before the Passover Festival. Jesus knew that the hour had come for him to leave this world and go to the Father. Having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end." Because of His love for us, He followed through all the way to the Cross on our behalf.

The Single Most Important Thing

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

The most basic element of Jesus Christ is that He loves us. When we use the word basic, we're talking about those things that are of most importance to us. So the single most important verse in the Word of God is John 3:16: "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."

  • Brad stresses how important it is for believers to understand forgiveness. His favorite Love verse is the whole 1 Corinthians 13 chapter.
