God So Loved...

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Andrew Farley

We all know John 3:16. It's one of the first verses we become familiar with. But how does God make His love known to us. God expresses His love for us in the fact that He forgave our sins. And when we realize that love forms in our heart toward Him.

Love God With All Your Heart

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

The first verse we see in the New Testament that contains the word "love" is the love the Father has for the Son. The Pharisees were always trying to trap Jesus and on one occasion asked: "Which is the greatest commandment in the law?" What was His answer... to love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind and soul... and to love others as you love yourself. So if you really want to keep the law, these are the requirements.

"This is My Son, Whom I Love"

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

One of the most moving messages of the New Covenant is that God love us. John 3:16 "For God so loved the world..." This month we're going to look at love. And by the end of the month we hope that love will take on a new meaning for you. God's love is active. "...And a voice from heaven said, 'This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.'" Matthew 3:16,17

Christ is Our Holiness

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer, Andrew Farley

Christ is our holiness. So often we miss this. We seek holiness in our own efforts missing the face that Christ is our holiness. The fruit of the Spirit comes from a place of spiritual rest. If you're striving for holiness there's no way you can rest.

How Do We Live a Holy Life?

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

Part of this hear, believe, and live, is living our this Christian life. So how are we to live out this Christian life? Rely upon the grace of God. Many people ask about "holy living". If we live by grace then what will living by the Spirit lead you to do? ...live holy lives. When I trust Jesus to work in me, what will come out is holy living.

The Gospel Changes Everything

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

Galatians 3:24,25 "Before the coming of this faith, we were held in custody under the law, locked up until the faith that was to come would be revealed. So the law was our guardian until Christ came that we might be justified by faith." So what role does the law have in a Christian's life?

What About the Old?

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

Today when we come to faith in Jesus Christ we are placed into the New Covenant. But what do we do with the Old Covenant? What do we do with the Ten Commandments? New Covenant life is not going to be a violation of those ten commandments. New Covenant life will be so much greater than simply following the law. Through the Holy Spirit we can walk in love. And love is the fulfillment of the law.

Make Every Effort to Enter That Rest

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

The New Covenant defines our relationship with God. One thing that often comes up when we talk about the New Covenant is the Sabbath. Hebrews 4:9 tells us "There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; for anyone who enters God's rest also rests from their works, just as God did from his."

  • Can you pick which day of the week to call the Sabbath?

Holy in All You Do

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Andrew Farley

Yesterday we talked about how in the New Covenant we've been holy because He is holy. In 1 Peter we read: "just as He who called you is holy, be holy in all you do". So how do our everyday lives take on the this holiness?

Sanctified

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Andrew Farley

All month we've been talking about our favorite subject—The New Covenant. There are many misconceptions about this covenant and one of those is sanctification. In Hebrews 10:10 we read "And by that will, we have been made holy through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all." As God's children we have been sanctified.
