The First Promise

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

The resurrected Christ changes our trajectory. We go from death to life. We find that what we now have in Christ is internal in nature, not external like the law. The first promise of the new covenant states: "I will put my laws in their hearts and I will write them on their minds."

Ministers of a New Covenant

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

In 2 Corinthians 3:6 "He has made us competent as ministers of a new covenant—not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life." When you came to Christ by faith you were born again into the Kingdom as a new covenant believer.

All One in Christ Jesus

Richard Peifer, Bob Davis

This is a very important day in this country. It's Martin Luther King Jr. Day. It was an amazing thing to grow up and see the change he brought about. When we see the reality of the New Covenant and how God now treats us we can see our relationships with others in a whole new light. Martin Luther King Jr. once said, "Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that."

We Stand as Forgiven People

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

The heart and soul of the Gospel message is the New Covenant. The death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ is the center piece of the Christian life. Because of this we stand as forgiven people before the throne of God.

Rest in the Finished Work of Christ

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

Mark this verse in your Bible - Hebrews 9:22 "Without the shedding of blood, there is no forgiveness." There is no formula of things you need to do to be forgiven. It requires the shedding of blood. The good news - GREAT news - is that Jesus Christ shed His blood for you. Because of Him, you ARE forgiven!

  • If I ask God to forgive me, what does He do? So many ask for forgiveness because they thinks it's part of a formula for what they have to do when they sin.
  • In the context of the Lord's Supper in 1 Corinthians what does "fallen asleep" mean?
  • Discussion about the Old Testament and its punishment for sins.
  • Paul's teachings about when someone should be removed from the body.

It's Time to Come Out of the Shadows

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

When you compare the Old Covenant to the New, there's simply no comparison. It's like comparing the Moon to the Sun. That's how the Old compares to the New. In Hebrews we read "The law is only a shadow of the good things that are coming—not the realities themselves. For this reason it can never, by the same sacrifices repeated endlessly year after year, make perfect those who draw near to worship." Hebrews 10:1 Unfortunately so many Christians still live in the shadows. It's time to come out of the shadows and experience all that Christ has for us in this New Covenant.

The Word

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

The New Covenant is the heart and soul of the Gospel. At the last supper Jesus raises the cup and states this is the blood of the New Covenant. Everything about this covenant is better than the old. That's what makes the Gospel "Good News"

Four Promises of the New

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

Their are four provisions of the New Covenant. Hebrews 8:10-12 "This is the covenant I will establish with the people of Israel after that time, declares the Lord. I will put my laws in their minds and write them on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people..."

A Better Covenant

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer, Andrew Farley

The life Jesus gave us is fully experienced in the New Covenant. It's this covenant we rely on and live in. It is a better covenant, with better promises, brought into effect by a better priest. But why did we need a better covenant? We needed a new covenant not because there was a problem with the Old Covenant, rather God found fault with us. And through Christ, God reconciled the world to Himself.
