Celebrating the New

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer, Andrew Farley

It's such good news... the fact that Jesus Christ is alive. As believers we have a couple of ways to celebrate that. Baptism-a celebration of the day when we came to Christ and the Lord's Supper. We celebrate many different ways. But what does the Word of God have to say about it?

  • How should a Christian service be held? How would would Paul worship?
  • What did the early church do?
  • How do we answer the question, "how do you know Jesus is God"?
  • What happens to those who are of different faiths?
  • Please help me understand what Hebrews 6:1-2 mean. "Therefore let us move beyond the elementary teachings about Christ and be taken forward to maturity..." Get your free copy of 'Love is...' Kindle edition loveisbook.net through Oct. 18 2014

Love is Our Testimony

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

The church is an assembly of believers. We've been called out by Jesus Christ into a single body... the assembling together by one spirit into one body. We all serve different purposes, but when we do this together in unity, compelled by the love of Christ, we see the body expressing love to the world at large. Our expression of love is testimony to the world that Jesus is real.

Interview with Jason Hillier

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer, Jason Hillier

Today Richard welcomes Jason Hillier, his son-in-law and the Next Steps Director at Valley Creek Church in Flower Mound, TX - valleycreek.org Jason shares how he came to know Christ and his journey to fully embrace the grace of God. He describes his salvation experience as more of a sunrise than a lightning bolt - it took years to really understand what it meant. Jason and the church leadership are passionate about communicating who we are in Christ. He says, "God the Father is very pleased with you." He also says, "If we can help people learn that they are truly in Christ and that when God looks at them He sees Jesus, their lives will be radically changed." As director of Next Steps, Jason says "What we teach in our new believer's class is that it's not a matter of a bad person becoming good, rather it's a dead person becoming alive."

No Longer Foreigners and Strangers

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

There are some great passages that talk about the church. And one of those is Ephesians 2:19-20 "Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with God's people and also members of his household, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone."

  • Two years ago a pastor showed me Matthew 18:11 is missing from the NIV. When I point this out I find other Christians defending this.
  • I am in a constant state of anxiety and worry, from the moment I wake up in the morning till I go to bed at night. What can I do?
  • I recently read that relationships have to begin with trust. But I feel it's best not to trust anyone. I can only trust Christ. What do you think?

Christ - The Head of the Church

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

What is the world is the church? That's a question in the minds of people everywhere. So many consider a building the church. But the church is the body of Christ. We are the church. Colossians 1:13-18 "...And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy."

  • Is idolatry really evil or can Christians get away with it?
  • Is there anything in the Bible that talks about us prospering financially?
  • Does Romans 3:25 "...He did this to demonstrate his righteousness, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished" answer the question of what happens to those who have never heard?

What Has God Predestined?

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer, Andrew Farley

Today we're going to look at this doctrine of predestination. When we look at this in Romans and Ephesians we see Jew and Gentile. God made one out of two. In Acts we see Peter going to the household of a Gentile and declared to them the wonders of Christ and as they believed, they became saved.

A Spiritual House

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

We're talking about the church made up of Jew and Gentile. When we come to Christ we become part of the church. We are called out to belong to Jesus Christ and we have a wonderful mission in this world. Peter states it this way 1 Peter 2:4,5 "...you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ."

  • Why do people continue to put other Christians under the law, specifically as it relates to tithing?
  • I've been engaged for six years and was saved a year ago. I'm carrying the shame of living together. I'm not sure what to do.

One New Man...

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

It's very interesting to read about the church in the Scriptures. I look at Sundays and see it as the most segregated day of the week. We gather together in our like minded groups. But that's not the way the church is to be. We see in Ephesians 2:14-18 "For he himself is our peace, who has made the two groups one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility, by setting aside in his flesh the law with its commands and regulations..."

  • I heard you talking about what Jesus looked like and it's always disturbed me as to how Jesus is portrayed, whether it be a typical church or even groups like the KKK. What do you think of this?
  • As a Christian I try to share the Gospel as often as possible and consider it a privilege. In sharing with Jehovah Witnesses they've challenged my understanding of Psalm 110. Is there a reason for the difference between the two words for "Lord"?
  • Will we be here for the Rapture?
  • Please explain what Purgatory is and what Scripture says about it?

Interview with Jeremy White

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer, Jeremy White

Today we welcome Jeremy White, lead pastor of Valley Church in Vacaville, CA. Jeremy has a great story of how he came to fully understand the grace of God and how it changed his life. He speaks to the challenge for pastors of getting people to get rid of the "religious flesh" that often paralyzes believers in their faith. He has an interesting perspective on the story of the prodigal son. The prodigal son has "rebellious flesh" while the older brother has "religious flesh" and both of them missed the love of God. Jeremy is also author of "The Gospel (un)Cut" - available at tinyurl.com/l8lmt9c
