The Righteousness that Only Christ can Give

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

Because Jesus Christ is alive so many things are true of us that weren't before. We go from death in Adam to life in Christ. Philippians 3:7-9 "...whatever gain I had, I counted as loss for the sake of Christ. Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith"

No Condemnation in Christ

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

When we came into this world, we were in Adam - surrounded by sin and death, and when we received Christ, we were born again into the family of God through His Holy Spirit. We've been into righteousness... into the Kingdom of God. So what does this mean to us when we sin? Now that we've been moved out of Adam and into Christ, there is no condemnation.

Identity - Who are You?

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

Who are you? Are you an adult, a parent, a child, a businessman or woman? There are many labels we wear in the world. We tend to identify ourselves by what we do. But God sees us as either dead in sin or alive in Christ. And why is this so important? Understanding that truth about our identity in Christ frees us to live as we truly are.

Anchored to the Truth

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

It's a historic day in America. It's a sad day. 13 years ago today the curtain was lifted and we witnessed the evil of men perpetrated against other men. I remember being on the air that day and a call from a lady who wondered what if it were her in one of the towers and she came to the Lord that day. Right now someone is being saved. Today is the day they hear the Gospel and become anchored to truth.

  • Chris calls to talk about his struggle with the assurance of his salvation.
  • I've been struggling with faith. I know you don't conjure it up. Hebrews 11:1 "Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see." store.basicgospel.net/product/CDTF.html
  • I wanted to encourage Chris and let him know that his cigarette smoking has nothing to do with his salvation. I came to the realization that God didn't want me to smoke and I simply had to give it over to God.

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer, Andrew Farley

We want an answer to the question, "who are we". We look for answers all over. But we really don't have an identity until we come to Christ. Today we look at once aspect of our identity is we are in Christ and He is in us. What does that mean? Andrew shares the picture of the Russian Matryoshka dolls... each nested within another.

My Presence Will Go With You

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

There's a wonderful story in the book of Exodus 33:13-17 where Moses is shown the glory of God. "If you are pleased with me, teach me your ways... The Lord replied, "My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.'" What does it mean to be a child of God? It means that Jesus is in you. He's with you 24 hours per day and 365 days per year.

  • I struggle with my witness at work. Jesus said, "If you deny me, I will deny you." How does this apply to me under grace?
  • Can you explain Genesis 6:4 "The Nephilim were on the earth in those days—and also afterward—when the sons of God went to the daughters of humans and had children by them. They were the heroes of old, men of renown."

Jesus is Not Ashamed of You

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

Who are we as people? Those of us who have come to life in Christ are now children of God. We've been born again into the family of God. Hebrews 2:10-11 speaks to what this means. "In bringing many sons and daughters to glory, it was fitting that God, for whom and through whom everything exists, should make the pioneer of their salvation perfect through what he suffered. Both the one who makes people holy and those who are made holy are of the same family. So Jesus is not ashamed to call them brothers and sisters."

Joint Heirs with Christ

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

We're talking about identity this month. "Who are you?" That's one of those questions we asked. And I think that's because of the fall. Adam and Eve knew who they were, but when sin entered, their identity with God was severed. Now through faith in Jesus our identity is found in Him. We are children of God and joint heirs with Christ.

All Our Sins Have Been Forgiven

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

Jesus Christ has come to live in us. We are a new creation and that's where we get our identity. We are a child of God. And once we understand that, we can ask the question, "what does it mean to be a child of God"?

  • When you get saved does Jesus forgive all your sins, or will there be judgment for that?
  • I've learned that the only unforgivable sin. But what about blasphemy?
  • What is the writer of Hebrews trying to tell us in 2:2,3 "For since the message spoken through angels was binding, and every violation and disobedience received its just punishment, how shall we escape if we ignore so great a salvation"?
  • I know we're forgiven for sin, but what about the consequences of sin?
