A Life Changing Message

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer, Andrew Farley

One of the big questions we ask is "who are we"? What's our identity? According to Scripture, we are a child of God. And one day we will be revealed to this world as to who we really are.

  • Myles calls to share: "My wife was asking me why I listen to Basic Gospel. It made me realize that listening to your program is good for my heart."
  • Claudia called to share about recent news that would bring fear to many. "I just found out that I may have breast cancer. But I don't feel fear, I find peace in knowing Jesus. Your program has helped prepare me for this."
  • Where does grace come into play if Christ came to fulfill the law?
  • Is tithing, that most church teach, for today, or does God simply love a cheerful giver?

Become a Saint

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

We're starting a brand new month and a brand new topic. Identity. We all want to know our identity. We start out defining ourselves by accomplishments or jobs or other things. But God has a completely different identity for us. When Adam and Eve ate of the fruit their identity changed. They became sinners and we inherited that. We want people to think we're basically good. But when we admit we're sinners we can take a hold of the promise of God and be made a child of God.

  • What does Hebrews 10:25 mean? "not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching."
  • Thanks for your podcast.
  • In my church I they're teaching a mix of law and grace. How do I know if I should stay or leave this congregation?
  • Can someone be saved before they know Jesus is God?
  • Do we have to confess all our sins to be saved?

Have You Driven the Stake?

Bob Christopher, Richard Peifer

For a long time I've been struggling with whether I'm saved or not... have I believed or not? I grew up in the church but I'm not sure I'm truly saved. I keep asking God to save me, but my life doesn't show it. Don't I need to repent from smoking and other things to prove that I'm truly saved? I keep asking and asking and asking but I don't feel or act saved. Bob explains that it is time to "drive the stake" and trust God for salvation. First life, then change!

He is Committed to Us

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

What happens when you take a wrong turn? If you have GPS it will simply say, "recalculation" and give you a new path to get to where you need to be. So what happens when you sin? When you get out in the weeds as Richard likes to say? God know that we are going to sin and nothing we do, say, or think shocks Him. When we choose those wrong turns, God's Spirit "recalculates" and sets us on the right path.

  • Can someone who has Alzheimer's be saved?
  • Who wants to hear preachers that only preach about Hell?
  • John calls to remind us "there is no condemnation in Christ".
  • There are so many that say the 2nd coming is near because of all the events they see in the middle east. Is this true?
  • Gil calls to encourage us... "If we have the spirit of grace we will want to please the Lord."

The Unpardonable Sin

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer, Andrew Farley

What is the unpardonable sin? Andrew, Bob, and Richard discuss this troublesome topic.

  • I've been attending a church where all are welcome. But I'm confused since the female pastor married her female partner.
  • Angelo calls to say, "Thank you. I really understood the grace message yesterday like I never have before."
  • Should we pray to God or Jesus?
  • What is the "unworthy manner" in 1 Corinthians 11 concerning the Lord's Supper?

Are You Satisfied with Christ's Sacrifice?

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

Forgiveness is such a critical message. One aspect of forgiveness is so radical is that God doesn't keep a list of our sins. We fear that God has all of this filed and categorized, but that's not the case. Jesus died for everyone of those sins and God says, "He chooses to remember them no more". Love keeps no records of wrongs. 2 Corinthians 5:18-19 "All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people's sins against them."

  • Is there a limit to God's grace?
  • In light of grace does God judge our stewardship?
  • If Jesus died for once for our sin, why do we have to continue to ask for forgiveness?
  • Does sin block us from a relationship from God?
  • If one commits suicide, where is the opportunity to ask forgiveness?

We Died to Sin

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

Without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins. And that's what Jesus did. He shed His blood so we could have forgiveness of sins. So many ask, are you saying since we are forgiven we can do anything we want? That question was asked and answered by Paul in Romans 6

  • Does Hebrews 6:4,5 describe a lost or saved person?
  • If someone accepts Christ and commits suicide will they go to Heaven or Hell?
  • Romans 8:29 "For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters."

Forgiveness In Christ

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

Knowing all our sins are forgiven opens the door to a new life. People have a hard time forgiving themselves and feel that they are unworthy of God. Let go of your past. Receive His Spirit and you will be His child with a new life and a brand new identity.

  • What are the ramifications of sin to a believer? The wages of sin is death. What does sin do to us spiritually? Does it change what God thinks of me?
  • Will sin keep us out of Heaven? Don't we have to repent every time we sin? Salvation is more than just forgiveness. We are born again from death to life. Christ is the guarantee of our salvation.
  • What is sin? It is transgression of the law. The root of all sin is unbelief
  • Was David born again? Can we walk away from God? Salvation is by grace and He will never leave us. Faithful is He and not us.

Jesus is Interested in You

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

One of the reasons people can't forgive themselves is they feel unworthy or unlovable. We see this in the prodigal son in Luke 14. The son ended up eating with the pigs. His father's servants ate better. He felt unworthy as he went back to his father. But God, our Heavenly Father, sees us as worthy and has sent His Son to show us that we are worthy and He loves us.

  • Will the rapture happen before the devil and his demons are released?
  • Thanks for talking to my friend Martin. Can you explain Luke 12 "he who humbles himself will be exalted"?
  • I like to comfort my stress level with drinking Wine, after work, and or on the weekends. I realize that keeping up with this old habit is only giving me foggy vision. How do I walk in the spirit and not in the flesh?
  • Do you have to speak in tongues to be saved?
  • Should we be baptized in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost or Jesus only?
  • How can Jesus' words to the Samaritan woman and His words to Nicodemus apply to me?
