Why can't I forgive myself? You hear that question a lot. People accept God's forgiveness for them, but they still can't seem to forgive themselves. Today is Reason #1 - I'm Basically Good.

• There are some who believe that even if you're divorced God doesn't see you as divorced. What do you think about this?

• If God is not counting our sins against us and we are not condemned, then why would we end up standing before Christ to give an account of the things we did, both good and bad?

I meet people all the time who say, "I know God has forgiven me, but I am having a hard time forgiving myself." Have you heard people you know say this? Maybe it's something you are struggling with right now. If so, you are not alone. Many people find it difficult to forgive themselves. I love the quote from C.S. Lewis: "If God has forgiven us, then it seems we should forgive ourselves".

• Love is rooted in forgiveness. Gods kindness leads us to repentance.
• Don't we need to keep short accounts and to confess for daily cleansing?

Jesus Christ completed His work regarding sin. In the death He died, He took away our sins once for all. When we sin, we normally ask the question, "what do I do now?"... but a better question is this, "what does God do when we sin?". There are seven things God does when we sin. 1. Sin brings fear into our lives. We're fearful of God's punishment because we know our sin is deserving of punishment. When we're declared forgiven we are set free... it is a declaration of freedom. John wrote this: "There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love." 1 John 4:18

• How do we know that we are following God's direction in forgiveness?
• I thank the Lord for delivering me from my depression. I found the living word to be the cure for my depression.
• Christ says, "I will never leave you or forsake you" and that is the greatest promise we have.

The good news that Jesus is alive has been being shared since He rose from the dead. This is truly good news. But where does that fit into forgiveness. What does that mean to us? What do we need to do to get this forgiveness? Hebrews 10:17-18 "...'Their sins and lawless acts I will remember no more.' And where these have been forgiven, sacrifice for sin is no longer necessary."
