Baptized Into Christ Jesus

Bob Christopher, Richard Peifer

In Romans 6 Paul asks the question, "Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase?" Here was Paul's answer, "By no means! We are those who have died to sin; how can we live in it any longer? Or don't you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death?"

Where, O death, is Your Victory?

Bob Christopher, Richard Peifer

Jesus Christ is alive and just as He was raised we too shall be raised. The minute we respond to Christ we are made alive in Him. And that's a guarantee and a great hope. In light of all this we ask what will our resurrected body look like. 1 Corinthians 15:42-44, 49 "So will it be with the resurrection of the dead. The body that is sown is perishable, it is raised imperishable; it is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory; it is sown in weakness, it is raised in power; it is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body." "And just as we have borne the image of the earthly man, so shall we bear the image of the heavenly man."

Freed from Fear

Bob Christopher, Richard Peifer

We're so afraid of death. We know that once comes death then comes judgment and we're afraid of what's ahead. Resurrection breaks that fear. Death could not keep Jesus in the tomb. He overcame sin and death.

I Want to Know Christ...

Bob Christopher, Richard Peifer

All of the New Testament sits on the resurrection. We see verses that say to live lives worth of our new identify and to forgive as He forgave us. These would be impossible apart from Christ and His resurrection power. So many have resigned themselves to a powerless existence. What's missing? They're not connected to the power of the resurrection... the power of the Holy Spirit living in them.

Live in Anticipation

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

The word that comes to mind when I think about resurrection is anticipation. We look forward to His return and that wouldn't be possible without the resurrection. He has given us His spirit as a guarantee of what lies ahead.

  • 2 Corinthians 5:17 "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!"

Spirit Gives Birth to Spirit

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

We've looked at the resurrection all month and evidence for it that demands a verdict. But what does it mean to you? 1 Peter 1:3 "Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead..."

Never Will I Leave You

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Andrew Farley

Today is marked on the calendar as "Earth Day". I thought is would be interesting to talk about faith vs. science. How can we hold firm to our beliefs and intelligently discuss science? We can study matter, but ultimately we need to know where something came from. It comes down to origins. We know it all comes from God.

  • Please explain Hebrews 13:5. "Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, 'Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.'"

Overwhelming Evidence

Bob Christopher, Richard Peifer

We celebrated what basic Gospel is all about yesterday. The fact that Jesus Christ is raised from the dead is hope for us. Hope beyond the grave. Life has been restored in us. The life lost in Adam and been replaced in Christ. But how do we know that Christ is resurrected? One of the sources is the eye witness accounts.

It is Finished!

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

On this special Good Friday edition of Basic Gospel, Bob tells the story of Jesus' trial and execution as God demonstrated His incredible love for us as Christ took our sins on Himself, paying the ultimate price so that we could share in His righteousness and resurrected life. Richard gives insight into the Old Testament sacrificial system and what it meant to the Israelites. He goes on to compare the Old Testament and it's many sacrifices to the one perfect sacrifice of the New Covenant.

You Were Included in the Resurrection

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer, Andrew Farley

With the resurrection three words come to mind, hope, life, and power. The resurrection has implications in our life here and now. I hope more and more believers will let it be the center issue of our daily lives.

  • Romans 2:13 and 3:20 seem contradictory. What is the difference?
  • I've been involved in both AA and NA and have over twenty years of sobriety. How do you address a group who has so many different beliefs? And how do you address those who argue against a God that would condemn "good people" to Hell.
  • How do I live the full Christian life? Have we strayed away from the early church?
