Love Rejoices with Truth

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer, Andrew Farley

In John 1:14 we read "The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth." Jesus Christ is full of grace and truth and when He comes to live inside us He brings that grace and truth. And our relationships are built upon that grace and truth. And love rejoices in truth.

  • Does God hear? So many churches are all about music and we hear very little from God's Word. Do you believe that's true?
  • How does God discipline us today?
  • How do I forgive infidelity and adultery?
  • I had an abortion years ago and don't know how I can tell my husband of 34 years. What should I do?

Love Keeps No Records of Wrong

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

We take our stand on the Gospel message. The death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. And once we take our stand on the Gospel it should effecting our relationships. But one of the key relationship destroyers is record keeping. We like to keep records, but we know that love keeps no records of wrongs.

  • I've learned all my life that God provides my needs according to His riches and that by His stripes we are healed. But I hear on your program that this is about spiritual blessing and healing. Can you help me understand this better?
  • The love of Christ is so beautiful. God so loved us that He sent His only Son.
  • Can we lose salvation?

The Resurrection Changes Everything

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer, John Lynch

John Lynch joins the Basic Gospel team today to discuss the STAND2014 conference coming up in June 19-21. Join us by registering online at stand2014.com

  • We've been talking about the resurrection this month about how it impacts our lives. John shares what the resurrection means to him. "Because of the resurrection the same grace that saved me is the same grace that lives through me. The implications of the resurrection I've been learning has been astonishing to me. I have a new shame-free identity. He has taken that away. One of the greatest things I'm getting in touch with is not only being loved by God, but being able to love God." "It's as if God says, 'you are my responsibility and I know how to mature you.'" "When I wear a mask only the mask gets loved."

Let the Spirit Lead You

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

Everything that we long for is provided for us in Christ and because of that we don't have to be self-seeking in relationships. Those that are self-seeking ruin relationships. Because of God's love for us we can truly love others.

  • Sometimes I feel guilt by participating in the things of the world. Where do we draw the line?
  • What is the purpose of fasting?
  • Is it all right to listen to Christian Hip Hop?
  • We are freely given in Christ: redemption, justification, forgiveness, holiness, righteousness, sanctification, a new identity etc., so we can't boast in our own works to earn these merits but boast in Him who gave it to us freely, right?

Walk Like a Forgiven Man

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

On social media outlets they call Thursday, "throwback Thursday" and my throwback is this: "If God has forgiven you, walk like a forgiven man." Rudeness is number 4 on relationship destroyers.

  • Hebrews 4:15 "For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin."
  • I was always taught that gambling was a sin. Is entering a raffle considered gambling?
  • When I see the memorials for those killed on the road I say a prayer for them. Does that do any good for them?

No Room for Pride

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer, Andrew Farley

These last three days we've been talking about things that stymie relationships. Today we'll look at pride. When we stand in pride we damage our relationships and don't build. There's no room for pride in the New Covenant.

  • I received the Holy Spirit at 45, but found I kept on sinning and I've read that if we sin we won't go to Heaven. I need some good news.
  • I understand that I'm saved, but where do works fit into salvation?
  • How can we understand Matthew 5:16 "In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven" compared to Matthew 6:1 "Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven"?

Love Does Not Boast

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

John 13:34 "A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another." If we are going to love others, we need to first know how God loves us. The second relationship killer is boasting, because it's nothing more than a lie about what we've done or what we have. If we've accomplished anything in life it's from God.

  • Why is it after accepting Jesus, I still have desires of the flesh?
  • A woman in my church wants to introduce a different way to God and I don't know what to do.

Relationship Breaker No. 1

When you look at the definition of love Paul gives us in 1 Corinthians 13, you realize that's not us. It is God.
