Hope, Life, and Power

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer, Andrew Farley

I think we're in the most exciting week of the calendar for Christians. The resurrection of Jesus is good news for those who turn to Him and receive Him. Apart from His resurrection there is no hope. Resurrection gives us Hope, Life, and Power.

  • Do you agree that David was a man after God's own heart? So why does David ask forgiveness if there is he had such a close relationship with God?
  • When I'm at home I'm confident of my salvation, but at work it feels like I'm lost.

Love Your Enemies

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

Romans 5:10 "For if, while we were God's enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life!" Jesus died so that when He was raised we too could share in His life.

  • If we have to deal with sin everyday, do we have to repent for those?
  • Do you think the movie "Noah" was strategic in removing God from the film?
  • Please explain Matthew 5:44-46 "You have heard that it was said, 'Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your Father in heaven..."
  • Robert shares how Jesus removed his desire to sin.

The Resurrection Changes Everything

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer, John Lynch

John Lynch joins the Basic Gospel team today to discuss the STAND2014 conference coming up in June 19-21. Join us by registering online at stand2014.com

  • We've been talking about the resurrection this month about how it impacts our lives. John shares what the resurrection means to him. "Because of the resurrection the same grace that saved me is the same grace that lives through me. The implications of the resurrection I've been learning has been astonishing to me. I have a new shame-free identity. He has taken that away. One of the greatest things I'm getting in touch with is not only being loved by God, but being able to love God." "It's as if God says, 'you are my responsibility and I know how to mature you.'" "When I wear a mask only the mask gets loved."
  • This program was repeated for the 3:30 broadcast.

A New Command I Give You

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

The evidence of the Gospel is seen in us who have come to Christ. And it's seen in a very practical way. In John 13:34-35 "A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another."

  • What do you think of the up rise of this new apostolic reformation?
  • Jude 3 "Dear friends, although I was very eager to write to you about the salvation we share, I felt compelled to write and urge you to contend for the faith that was once for all entrusted to God's holy people."
  • I know we're not supposed to lie, but I hear people say "everybody lies". Yet I'm frustrated with lying.
  • How can we be sure that we're pursuing things in the Spirit or the flesh?
  • How do I effectively study the Bible in the midst of all the distractions in life?

The Full Extent of His Love

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

This is the most significant week on the Christian calendar. I love how the Gospel writers layout this week as it starts with Jesus riding on a donkey and the palm branches laid out. They were looking for a king to rescue them. But He came to become Lord and King of our life.

  • I'm a new Christian. I've started reading the Bible, but am feeling overwhelmed.
  • In the Torah the Israelites where instructed to let the land rest in the seventh year. Should we continue to do that today?

Hope, Assurance, and Power

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

Resurrection is the heart and soul of the Gospel message. When I think of resurrection it brings to mind three things: hope, assurance, and power.

  • What does it mean obey those over you?
  • How do you draw someone out of the Old Testament mindset?
  • I struggle with my desire to do God's will and living in the world.

Raised to Walk in the Newness of Life

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

All of Christianity hinges on the fact that Jesus Christ rose from the dead. There are those that argue against this, but there is simply too much evidence for the resurrection. And what that means to us is that when we come to Him, we too are raised from the dead.

  • Am I missing some secret that the Pentecostals have by not speaking in tongues? This has divided my family.
  • Where the tongues that the disciples spoke languages?
  • Why is there so much division between Christian denominations?

I Am The Resurrection and The Life

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

Bob extends condolences to our friends Angelo and Yvonne in New Jersey. John 11:25,26 "Jesus said to her, 'I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?'"

  • How did Joshua know it was God that appeared to him in Joshua 5?
