You Belong

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

We need to understand that we are all members of one body and are to serve one another at large. "Now you are the body of Christ and individually members of it." 1 Corinthians 12:27 The need to belong and be part of something bigger than yourself is made complete when you are added to the body of Christ.

The Grace Guide to Marriage - part 9

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

The question we address today is "How do you deal with a husband with an anger issue? He never listens to me." The solution is the gospel message - before any transformation can take place, he must come to life in Christ. Pray fervently for your husband, for his salvation. If he is a Christian, pray that God's spirit will open his eyes. You must trust the situation to the Lord. When his anger flares up, don't try to get him to listen at that point. Turn, walk away, and discuss the issue at a later time. Generally, anger is a sign of insecurity and fear. Anger is the mask that fear puts on.

A New Identity - Child of God

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

One of the challenges that face people today and throughout time is their identity. It's one of the first question we ask. And as believers we have a new everlasting identity as children of God. 1 John 3:1 "See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are. The reason why the world does not know us is that it did not know him."

The Solution is Resurrection Life

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Andrew Farley

The real need for everyone of us is life. We come into this world dead in sin. So the solution is not to quit sinning but to receive life. The life of Christ. And once we are made alive in Christ change will follow. 2 Corinthians 3:6 "He has made us competent as ministers of a new covenant—not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life."

  • I understand grace, but aren't there some rules we're supposed to follow?

Don't Go Back

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

We wrap up our monthly focus on freedom with a strong look at the high cost of living under the law. If you put yourself back under the law, you will become judgmental, shut-off, and an ineffective witness of the love of God. You will never experience the wondrous freedom that Jesus has given you and life will not be abundant and free. "For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery. Galatians 5:1

It's All Jesus

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

What is freedom? Why did Jesus set us free through his death on the cross? 1 Timothy 1:5 "The aim of our charge is love that issues from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith." Why did Jesus do all that he did? Love. The aim is love.

The Grace Guide to Marriage - part 8

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

God has a grand design for marriage and it can be a source of great joy. Marriage is representative of Christ's love for His church. Ephesians 5 has great insight into how wives are to love their husbands. What does "submit to your husband" mean? This does not mean that you are inferior to your husband. This passage refers to wives submitting to the Lord Jesus Christ and allowing Him to work through them to show their husbands love and respect. Men thrive on respect. If the whole world rejects them, but their wife stands by them and respects them, then all is well. Wives, ask the Lord Jesus to show you creative ways to show respect to your husband. This is the true meaning of submission - submitting to the Lord Jesus and responding to His leading in your marriage.

Bearing Witness to the Truth

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer, Andrew Farley

The world doesn't know the truth about God. They're trying to figure it out and that's why we see so much struggle and strife. We see the same in the Christian world. "You say that I am a king. For this purpose I was born and for this purpose I have come into the world—to bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth listens to my voice." John 18:37

Press on to the High Calling

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

It's a hard thing to press on and leave the past behind. There are many things that can hold us back. What's robbing you of experiencing your freedom in Christ to the full — fear of the unknown, the opinions of others, or do you think the world may have something better to offer?

Experiencing Freedom

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

Freedom is the deepest need of the human heart and it is found in Christ Jesus. In Philippians 3:14, Paul encourages us to press on in knowing Christ. "I press on toward the goal to win the prize of God's heavenly calling in Christ Jesus." The world had suppressed the knowledge of Christ in order to keep us pressed down in bondage. Through Christ, we are freed from that bondage and can press on to the prize - freedom. Don't look back. Keep your eyes on Jesus and, in doing so, you will experience freedom to the full.
