Hebrews - So Great a Salvation, part 19

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

Hebrews encourages us to offer up the continual sacrifice of praise to God. Let us do good and share what we have with others. Let's obey our leaders, those who watch over our souls and let's pray. Jesus is our great shepherd and He equips us with every good thing so that we may do his will. He works in us that which is pleasing in his sight.

Justification

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

How do we know that our sins are forgiven? In Romans 5:16 we read: "And the free gift is not like the result of that one man's sin. For the judgment following one trespass brought condemnation, but the free gift following many trespasses brought justification." He removed all of our sins and took the condemnation and punishment and gave us his righteousness.

Forgiving Others

Put on Compassion and Kindness

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

Based upon the forgiveness we have in Christ Jesus, we can learn to forgive one another. "Put on then, as God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive." Colossians 3:12-13 The old man is gone. Now you've been made new in Christ Jesus. How has God in Christ forgiven us?

Your Sins are Forgiven

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

What Christ did at the cross was the very thing that allowed Pentecost to happen. The Gospel is the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Forgiveness is a very, very important issue. 1 John 2:12 "I am writing to you, little children, because your sins are forgiven for his name's sake."

Hebrews - So Great a Salvation, part 18

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

We've received a kingdom that is unshakable. We stand on solid ground. Jesus is our cornerstone and our life in Him is rock solid. Chapter 13 of Hebrews looks at acceptable worship to God, in very practical ways: Let brotherly love continue. Be hospitable. Remember those in prison and those who are being mistreated. Hold marriage in high honor. Don't defile the marriage bed. Be content with what you have. Remember, the Lord will never leave you nor forsake you. Therefore, live without fear, the Lord is your helper.

Living Stones

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer, Andrew Farley

This whole week we've talked about the importance of Pentecost - the giving of the Holy spirit. 1 Peter 2:4-5 "As you come to him, a living stone rejected by men but in the sight of God chosen and precious, you yourselves like living stones are being built up as a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ." We are now the house of God - made new in him.

Experiencing Pentecost

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

The Apostles were filled with the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost demonstrating God's new dwelling place. When you come to Christ, you experience your own personal Pentecost - the gift of the Holy Spirit. Colossians 1:27 "To them God chose to make known how great among the Gentiles are the riches of the glory of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory." 1 Corinthians 3:16 "Do you not know that you are God's temple and that God's Spirit dwells in you?"

God is With Us

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

"Brothers, I may say to you with confidence about the patriarch David that he both died and was buried, and his tomb is with us to this day. Being therefore a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him that he would set one of his descendants on his throne, he foresaw and spoke about the resurrection of the Christ, that he was not abandoned to Hades, nor did his flesh see corruption. This Jesus God raised up, and of that we all are witnesses. Acts 2:29-33

We hope all the moms out there had a very special Mother's Day, complete with the honor due them. - This Sunday is Pentecost Sunday and should be celebrated everywhere. "The time when the Holy Spirit was sent to us. And while staying with them he ordered them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the promise of the Father, which, he said, 'you heard from me; for John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.'" Acts 1:4-5
