Hebrews - So Great a Salvation, part 15

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

Some by faith conquered kingdoms, stopped the mouths of lions, quenched the power of fire, put foreign armies to flight. When we think about a life of faith in Jesus, this is the kind of impact we want to make. Yet others were tortured, mocked, flogged, imprisoned, stoned, sawn in to or killed by the sword. They too were commended for their faith. No matter what you are going through, just like these saints of old, you can walk through your trails convinced that nothing can separate you from the love of God. Let these examples encourage you in your walk of faith.

God is with You

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

The truth for every believer is that you're never alone because Christ is with you. We believe that our loneliness will only go away through human connection. But it's only through Jesus Christ that we'll find contentment so we can reach out to others to serve others in love. That's our highest calling - to serve one another in love. John 15:4-5 "Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing."

Never Alone Again

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

Loneliness is a big thing in the world today. We are connected through Facebook, Twitter, and so many other social apps. But we still feel cut off from the rest of the world. The Gospel can lift us out of this loneliness because Christ is always with us. " Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, 'I will never leave you nor forsake you.'" Hebrews 13:5

One Spirit with the Lord

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer, Andrew Farley

One of the great realities of the New Covenant is that we've become one with the Lord. 1 Corinthians 6:17 "But he who is joined to the Lord becomes one spirit with him." This is an adventure in union with Christ Jesus himself. And it can't get any better then that.

Is Everyone Going to Heaven?

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

Jesus said "I am the way, the truth, and the life", that life is the very thing we need. He is the only source of life. "He who has the son has life. He who does not have the son does not have life."

Hebrews - So Great a Salvation, part 14

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

Hebrews 11 is an insightful look at old-testament saints. Without faith it is impossible to please God and these saints are a wonderful example to us today. Through the lens of faith, we can experience the life God provides. Notice that there is no mention of the sins of these old-testament saints, although each of them were flawed in many ways. God is only concerned with their faith. The same is true for us. Abraham's story is a story of faith; in fact, he is called the Father of Faith. He is a pivotal character in the story of God's provision.

Everything We Need

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

We live under a New Covenant. The old did its work. It showed us our sinfulness and our need for Christ. And now that it has done its job, the New Covenant is ours. "His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence, by which he has granted to us his precious and very great promises..." 2 Peter 1:3-4

Every Spiritual Blessing

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer, Andrew Farley

"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places..." Ephesians 1:3 We've talked about the fact that we are New Covenant believers and here Paul is telling us about our inheritance in Jesus Christ. All too often believers live as if they are spiritual paupers. It's important to understand the grace of God we have in Christ.

An Invitation to Rest

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

Matthew 11:28-30 "Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." The word "rest" has to do with an inner tranquility. It's an invitation to rest. This is also about eternal rest - the divine rest we have in Jesus.

A Promise of Rest

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

There is a lot of restlessness in the world today. And in the Gospel is a message of rest. We need rest and it's found in the New Covenant. Here's what the writer of Hebrews writes: "Therefore, since the promise of entering his rest still stands, let us be careful that none of you be found to have fallen short of it." Hebrews 4:1
