We're telling the Christmas story this week from eternity's perspective. Jesus was in the beginning. His coming was planned from before the creation of the world and came into effect at "just the right time". In Philippians 2:4-8 we find that Jesus humbled himself and became like one of us and was obedient even to his death on the cross. He is God and chose to become like us, to save us.

"But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son ..." Galatians 4:4-7 answers the question "why" of Christmas. Why did God send Jesus? Why did God save me when he did? Why did he adopt me as a child? Why did God become flesh? His divinity is compatible with our humanity - Jesus proved it.

The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit knew what was going to happen and that was Jesus becoming one of us.

The Christmas season is a wonderful time of year. Even though we don't know the actual date of Jesus' birth. Somewhere around 300 AD December 25 was chosen as the date. The date doesn't matter; we know that Jesus has always been. As John 1:1,2 teaches: "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning," All of human history is the unfolding story of Jesus; 2000 years ago He came down from Heaven to save the world. So let's celebrate all that Jesus accomplished for us.

We as believers need to take the lead in treating people with the respect and dignity they deserve. We have an opportunity to truly show the love of God to the world in the way we treat others. 1 Corinthians 6:12, 13 "All things are lawful for me," but not all things are helpful. "All things are lawful for me," but I will not be dominated by anything. "Food is meant for the stomach and the stomach for food"—and God will destroy both one and the other. The body is not meant for sexual immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body.
