This is Thanksgiving week and a very good time to take time and share our thanks. We invite you to share your favorite passage of thankfulness. Hebrews 13:15 "Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise—the fruit of lips that openly profess his name." We have an opportunity to pass on the grace of God.

Let's go back to the basics. The verse many of us first heard was John 3:16, "For God so loved the world ... ". This is such a significant verse because is shows that each individual has worth. Jesus echoed this in Matthew 25 when he shared the parable of "doing the least unto these". Each and every person is of infinite worth to God.

• Sometimes reading verses such Matthew 7:22, 23 or Ephesians 5:5-6 causes whispers of doubt. As believers, with constant evil around us and sinful desires in us still, what are those two passages referring to?

In Acts 17:26 we find Paul in Athens in conversation with the philosophers of the day. And he wanted to bring the truth of the "unknown God" to them. How do we see God's wisdom concerning our life today. John 1:1-3 "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. ..." All that exists, all that has ever been came to be through the hand of God himself. So what we believe about origins make a huge difference as to how we live. We're either a result of God's plan or a result of random chance. If we're going to have anything to say, it has to start with God speaking the world into existence and his love compels him to act on our behalf. His love brings dignity to every human that has ever lived.

We all have problems of the heart. Problems that come from within. Those can manifest themselves in how we relate to one another. Today let's look at James 2:1-7 "My brothers, show no partiality as you hold the faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory. ..." We see this played out so much in the world. But it's not of God. The attitude of favoritism causes divisions among us. And God came to make us one in Him.
