The Old Has Passed - The New Has Come

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

Who are you? Why am I here? And where am I going? Identity is derived and our first identity comes from our family. We are a member of the family. And the same is true of our spiritual identity. When we are born again we get a new identity. 2 Corinthians 5:17 "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!"

  • How can we incorporate the Great Commission into our identity?
  • Tom finds himself struggling with perfectionism and reached out through Facebook.

Hard Passages - Part 2

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

Today we look at hard passages that speak to being filled with the Spirit, tongues of fire (Acts 2:2-4), the work of the Holy Spirit (John 16:7-11), and being filled with the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 5:18 ). Sunday is Pentecost Sunday - one of the most significant celebration of the Christian calendar. When we come to Christ by faith, we experience our own personal Pentecost. The Holy Spirit's whole purpose is to point us to Jesus. Anything we do "in the Spirit" that diverts our eyes from Jesus can't be truth.

Identity is Key

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

Identity is key. The world lures us with all kinds of identities. But there's only one identity that last forever. John 1:12, 13 "Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God—children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband's will, but born of God."

  • Bob and Richard talk about their struggle with identity as young men and how they found their true identity in Christ as a child of God.

Seek First His Kingdom

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer, Andrew Farley

But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. Matthew 6:33, 34 We need to live a people who truly know Jesus and are convinced by his love that nothing can separate us from him.

How to Overcome Depression

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer, John Lynch

John Lynch and Bob Christopher discuss the problem of depression and offer hope through the good news of Jesus Christ. Almost 7% of the population is depressed and suicide is the leading cause of death for teens. To help address the serious situation of emotional disorders, we are speaking with John Lynch, author of The Cure and On My Worst Day. John gets beneath the surface to see that as long as hope is alive, we can move forward but when hope dies, depression comes. The faith community often offers cheap, easy answers that really don't help at all. Depression is not a personal flaw, not a matter of spiritual immaturity, not a punishment from God, never because you are not enough. Those truths are an incredible hope for people who feel this crisis of faith in their depression. Knowing that you are adored by God, that he is not frustrated with you, that even with this condition God can and will use your life in amazing ways. We receive a compassion and clarity even in the midst of incredible darkness when we grasp the love of God for us. The God of all grace will perfect and confirm and strengthen and establish you.

Hard Passages

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

Our new Friday teaching is "Hard Passages". No matter if you are a Bible scholar or new to reading the Word, there are passages that we have trouble understanding. Today we look at passages that people use to question eternal security. It causes us to question, "Have I done enough?" or "Is God so mad at me that he will remove my salvation." The key is to keep your eyes on Jesus and you will be secure in the Lord. We look at Matthew 7:21-23, Matthew 12:32, and Revelation 3:5 as they pertain to eternal security.
