We Preach Christ Crucified

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

The best apologetic is the story of Jesus. The death, the burial, and the resurrection of Jesus Christ. There is nothing more powerful. The simple message of the Gospel has been reaching people since the beginning. As Paul wrote, "we preach Christ crucified...". So take a bold stand about Jesus and let's stand together and preach Christ and Christ crucified.

  • Kelley asks if Hebrews 12:7 have a direct correlation to the maturing process that our trials and tribulations take us through.

Are You Ready to Engage?

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer, Larry Alex Taunton

Larry Alex Taunton joins us in our discussion of apologetics, providing a reasonable answer to skeptics of Christianity. Larry talks about his recent article challenging Christians to stand for what the believe in. "Love that has a proper Biblical framework understands that you don't just simply embrace everything and everybody." Many arrive at the conclusion that righteous anger isn't Biblical. We need to speak truth into people's lives.

  • In trying to equip students to defend the faith, what do you see lacking?
  • Larry is the author of The Faith of Christopher Hitchens. Mr. Taunton is also the founder and executive director of the Fixed Point Foundation. In that role he has debated such high profile atheists as Christopher Hitchens, Daniel Dennett, and Michael Shermer as well as Muslim cleric Zaid Shakir.

The Goal - Lesson 48

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

Grace is powerful and active. It is not passive or reactive in the least. It is Jesus Christ living his life in you. He saved you by grace through faith. And now by grace he is perfecting that faith, bringing it to maturity. God is completing the work he began in each one of us. In John 16:33, Jesus says "I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world." It is in the trials of life that you learn that Jesus is enough. You learn that his grace is sufficient. (Chapter 14, page 105)

Can You Know God?

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

Many skeptics come to the Word of God with some presuppositions. One of those is called philosophical naturalism - the belief that only natural laws and forces operate in the world. So there's no such thing as the supernatural realm. Many people with that presupposition when reading the Bible can believe the historical aspects but not the miraculous. They believe that everything can be explained by what we see. However, as we look deeper it becomes plain that there has to be another explanation than simply the natural laws and material world. We can let the evidence speak for itself and believe there is someone beyond this world and ask the question, "can we know him".

  • A caller asks about the rapture of the church.
  • William comments on the "man of lawlessness" in regards to end times and the rapture.

The Life Christ Offers

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

Jesus Christ is the most compelling figure who ever walked planet earth. The weight of his personality, the force of change that resulted because he was here. Because he died, he was buried, and he was raised again, I think compels any reasonable to take a close look - to examine the evidence and to make a decision about the claims Jesus made and the miracles he performed, and the life he offers all who will come to him by faith.

  • Ryan asks what he can expect in Heaven.
  • Marcus asks about 1 Thessalonians 5 in regards to sanctification.

Remembering Our Friend...

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

Today we remember our friend, our brother, and the Chairman of the Board of Basic Gospel, Rich Andresen. Rich passed away Sunday evening. Rich served the ministry with professionalism and a true heart for the things of the Lord. We are the beneficiaries of God's work through Rich and his service to Basic Gospel will continue to impact people for years for come. We will miss him but we celebrate knowing that "he is absent from the body and present with the Lord". Bob, Bob, and Richard share fond stories of our friend.

The Goal - Lesson 47

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

God in his grace and mercy delivered you into the New Covenant. That is where he wanted you to be, and that is where you are. Because of Christ, you will never be outside of God's favor. You are in the New Covenant and there is no turning back. It's time to fully embrace God's perfect plan and will for you. It's time to drive the stake in the ground-to set aside the old and fully embrace the new. It's time to say, "I am a new-covenant believer." (Chapter 14, pg 104)
