Power of 8: Law and Grace, part 2

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

Far from being a dull theological tenant, the way of grace is the most exciting way to live. As children of God, we're no longer under the law. We live under the grace of God. No one is righteous under the law. Righteousness is a free gift of the grace of God. How then should we live? Led by the Spirit. The good news is God has sent his Spirit to take up residence in us. The Spirit renews our minds and empowers us to live as children of God. "For through the law I died to the law, so that I might live to God." Galatians 2:19

Power of 8: Law and Grace, part 1

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

Our new identity in Jesus Christ is so important for us to grasp. We have a post resurrection journey ahead of us fueled by Christ's life. And when we enter into this new life, we are no longer under the law. We've tried to live by rules and regulations, but those only showed us our shortcomings. So how then do we live?

A Matter of the Heart

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

All roads lead to Philippians 3. It sets the stage for our purpose and reason for being in life. "For no one is a Jew who is merely one outwardly, nor is circumcision outward and physical. But a Jew is one inwardly, and circumcision is a matter of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the letter. His praise is not from man but from God." Romans 2:28-29

True Freedom in Christ Alone

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

A special Independence Day broadcast from Basic Gospel. — I love the 4th of July. It's a wonderful experience for us as Americans that enjoy this freedom everyday. But on a much deeper level there are many who are looking for freedom in their souls. In John 8:31, Jesus tells us if we hold to his teachings, we will be his disciples. When we hold to his teachings, we will know the truth, and that truth will set us free. Freedom is what Christ has in mind for each and every one of us. This freedom can only come through Jesus Christ. When we come into this freedom, we shouldn't use it to serve ourselves, but use our freedom to serve one another in love. Are you in bondage to sin? Would you like to be free from that bondage today? Accept Jesus' words as true, know that He is our savior, and you will be set free from the bondage of sin.

Of First Importance

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

Here in the United States of America we are celebrating the founding of our nation. It's a reminder of the freedom we have in Christ Jesus. Let's look again at the Gospel message. The message matters. Within this message is the wisdom of God, the power of God, and the freedom in God. "Now I would remind you, brothers, of the gospel I preached to you, and by which you are being saved ..." 1 Corinthians 15:1-8

  • Who is the author referring to in Hebrews 6:4-6? What does it mean to "again crucify to themselves the Son of God"? Is this for today?
  • Monty asks about Jesus' second coming. The anti-christ has not be revealed yet.
