Worship: A Matter of the Heart

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

Worship is such an important topic. Even in the Mosaic law we see the importance of worship in the first two commandments. Worship has to do with the heart. When we come to Christ we go from unbelief to belief. We go from worship of the things of this world to the worship of him. "God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth." John 4:24

Forgiveness, Love and Freedom

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

We had an historic day yesterday. Donald Trump won the presidency. Some are celebrating. Others are mourning. But how are we to respond as Christians in this world? We continue to share the message of Christ. We continue to share the hope of the Gospel. What people really need is forgiveness, love, and freedom found in the Gospel. What people truly need in Jesus.

The Only Message of Real Change

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

It's election day today in the United States and we encourage you to vote for the candidates of your choice. We have a great freedom to exercise our vote. Many in the world don't and they envy our privilege. Vote for the candidates that most closely align with your core values and beliefs. One area that we believers need to be aware of is to protect our freedom to proclaim the gospel over the airwaves. We want to preserve our right to make known the ministry of the gospel message... it's the only message that can bring about real change in real lives. Freedom of expression is the key to being able to share that good news with the world.

You Are Free - Lesson 32

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

Forgiveness plus life equals freedom. Real freedom. This is where the Gospel takes us. Paul puts it this way: "It is for freedom that Christ has set us free" (Galatians 5:1). Freedom is what you have longed for all your life. Now in Christ, it is yours. Here is the good news! Through faith in Jesus we have escaped the world and it's system. We are not under law. We are under grace. We have been set free. This is God's goal for us, and he has equipped us to handle it.

Turn Toward the Creator

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

Who or what we worship is eventually what will control us. That's what we're seeing in the world today and why I believe the Mosaic covenant starts with "Thou shall have no other Gods before me." In Romans 1:20-25 "For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen ... so that people are without excuse. For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, ... they became fools and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images ..." If we're going to make a difference in this world we need to turn the hearts of men from idols to the Creator.

Worship the Lord Your God

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer, Andrew Farley

Worship is a big word. Certainly it's a bigger concept than what most people think. It is not singing songs in a church service on Sunday. It actually is our way of life. Our form of worship is more than just music. It's a presentation of ourselves to God for his use. Our first act of worship is when we first receive Jesus Christ as our savior. Our worship is an ongoing result of our love of God - making ourselves available to Him to reach others. That's called our spiritual act of worship.

  • Ron asks how Malachi 2 relates to 1 Peter 2:9 concerning the "royal priesthood".
  • Since forgiveness alone is not salvation and life is found only in Christ, what does "reconciled the world to Himself" mean in 2 Corinthians 5:17-19?
  • Is the judgment seat of Christ in Colossians 5:10 and ongoing thing or a one-time thing at the end of our life here on earth?

Who Will You Worship?

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

Our theme this month is worship. The most important issue we face is whom we shall worship. In the Garden that's basically what Satan asked. "Who will you worship?" In the end we see that same question raised again. We see it displayed vividly in the temptations of Jesus. In the final temptation Jesus answered: "Jesus answered, "It is written: 'Worship the Lord your God and serve him only.'" Luke 4:8

The Heart and Soul of the Gospel

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

Grace is the heart and soul of the Gospel message. It's attached to the work of Jesus Christ. "The grace of the Lord Jesus be with God's people. Amen." Apart from the grace of the Lord Jesus we could never have hope, forgiveness, justification, sanctification, etc. It's only through his grace we can truly be God's child.

Rest - Lesson 31

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

The message is clear and strong. Jesus sat down because his work was finished. He accomplished everything the Father sent him to accomplish. He satisfied the justice and holiness of God. He satisfied his Father once and for all. He successfully turned aside the wrath of God. God judged our sin, condemned it, and he punished it. But that was not the end goal. The fact that God has declared you righteous in his sight is proof that all your sins have been forgiven. They have been sent away from you as far as the east is from the west. The work has been done. It is time to rest and enjoy your freedom in Christ. (Chapter 10, pg 75)
