The Kind the Father Seeks

Bob Christopher, Richard Peifer

In Matthew 6:21 we learn "where your treasure is, there your heart will be also" This is a matter of worship. Whatever you worship controls you. And in John 4:23 we learn, "the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks."

  • I have a situation where I was going to give, but needed to help my son. But it's been gnawing at me that it should have gone to the church. What's your thoughts on that?
  • What is tithing? Is it an obligation? What are we to give as Christians?

...in Spirit and Truth

Bob Christopher, Richard Peifer

When Jesus comes to live inside of us, He gives us a whole new way of thinking. We get a new way of life and start to see things a whole different way. One of those things is money. In Matthew 6:19-21 Jesus states, "Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also" John 4:24 "God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth."

Your Spiritual Act of Worship

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

We see that whatever we depend upon or worship will ultimately control us. That's why it is the first commandment. God wants our hearts to be inclined toward Him. Jesus pointed that out: "you can't server God and money at the same time".

  • I'm getting ready to have surgery soon and I don't want to wake up from it. I'm not suicidal, but I hate this world and tired of fighting against the temptations of my flesh. Is there somewhere in Scripture that will change my attitude?

Holy and Pleasing to God

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

Romans 12:1-2 "Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will."

A Brand New Perspective

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

As we talk about everyday the basic Gospel intersects with our lives. And one of those touch-points is money. In that light we want to look at worship... where's your heart. So often we use money to buy all sorts of things, but we find out it can never truly satisfy. When we come to the message of Christ we find that He has provided everything we need.

  • Matthew 6:24 "No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money."
  • What does "by His stripes we are healed" mean?
  • I'm only on Social Security and there's a lot of times that I can't pay my full tithe. I've been told that you give from your heart. Is that true?
  • It's a blessing to hear that we are not under the law.
  • Is it God's will for us to be healthy?

Store Up Treasures in Heaven

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

You cannot server God and money. But so many of us try to do that, because we think it can do things that it never will or can. And too often we let money control us and what God wants is for us to be controlled by His love.

  • I love what you're saying about money. We are not under the Old Covenant, but under grace and we give out of the grace He has given us.
  • I hear people talk about marrying for money and I feel sorry for them and pray for them.
  • God is more concerned with us than we know. When we can give, we not only bless others, we bless ourselves.
  • There are so many ways we can give. Through their time and natural gifts and other things.

Sow to the Spirit

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

Because we have been made alive we have a whole new way of seeing this world. And one of those things is money. So how as believers are we to see money? That's the topic for this month. It's one of the most talked about things in the Bible.

  • What does it mean that God will provide all our needs according to His riches and glory?
  • I started tithing and my income doubled. God put it on my heart to give 10%.
  • You talk about using money to satisfy the flesh... but don't we need money to live on?
