Walk by the Spirit

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

This month we're going to talk about what the Bible has to say about money in all aspects of life. The verse in the Bible that I think is the most important concerning money is Galatians 5:16 "So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh."

  • I think that giving is wonderful when you give to the true Gospel.
  • Do we tithe on the gross or net income?

One Message of Grace

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

You can never come to the end of discussing the New Covenant. Because it is all about Jesus. We are a New Covenant ministry and all we talk about will be couched in the New Covenant.

  • Do we have guardian angels? Are there angels assigned to us look over us and protect us?
  • I'm praying a lot for my husband, but he's still sick and I wonder if it's because of doubt in my heart?
  • Does the Bible state where the new heaven will be?
  • Is there a difference between Peter's gospel and Paul's gospel?
  • Where do the Gentiles originate from?

Two Mountains - Two Covenants

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

We will always talk about the New Covenant. Why? Because it tells us everything we need to know about Jesus and what He accomplished on our behalf.

  • The old and new is contrasted by the two mountains—Mount Sinai and Mount Zion. One a source of judgment and death and the other a source of righteousness and life.
  • When people were claiming they preached and healed in Jesus' name and Jesus replied "I never knew you"... is that loss of salvation?
  • Is water baptism important or necessary?
  • How would the false prophets/teachers in Matthew 7 cast our demons if Jesus never knew them?

Your Ministry of a New Covenant

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer, Andrew Farley

Imagine that you've been called to the reading of a will and find that you have piles and plies of stuff-more than you can imagine. And you wonder, how can I use this to benefit others. As we learn about the promises we have in the New Covenant we reach a point where we want to share this with others and we have been equipped to be a minister of the New Covenant.

  • There's been a desire to share the Gospel of grace with my friends. How can I, a mere sinner, be used to share the God's message of grace?
  • I know God has forgiven us completely, but we still sin. How does God deal with our sins today?
  • I gave my life to the Lord at 18. I never went to Bible school or have any certificate. I've started a home study and it's growing. What do you think of this? Galatians 1:11-17

Ministers of a New Covenant

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer, Andrew Farley

We've been talking about this as how we are beneficiaries of the New Covenant, but that's not where it ends. We're not to be reservoir, but instead a river where it flows through us. "He has made us competent as ministers of a new covenant—not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life." 2 Corinthians 3:6

  • Can a Christian have a critical spirit?
  • How does love relate to the New Covenant in Romans 12:10?
  • I hear many people all and say they believe in "soul sleep", but if that were the case Paul couldn't make the case he did in Philippians 1:23 "...I desire to depart and be with Christ...".

Equipped to Do His Will

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

In Hebrews 13 the writer draws a dynamic conclusion. So often we look at grace as just a moment of salvation issue. So it rests on our shoulders to live the Christian life. But that's not what happens. We read in chapter 13: "Now may the God of peace,... equip you with everything good for doing his will..."

  • My nephew struggles with OCD and several issues that are related. How can I be helpful in this young man's life?
  • Do we need to repent before we accept Christ or after?
  • Is reincarnation Biblical?
  • Today many preachers and teachers preach in the name of Jesus with the wrong premise. Is the answer Jesus gave in Mark 9:38-41 the same today.

Saved and Transformed by Grace

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

So often we look at the grace of God only as the thing that saves us. But it does so much more. We think if we over emphasize grace, it will lead us to sin. But that is just the opposite. We are New Covenant believers - saved, sustained, transformed, and conformed by grace and grace alone.

  • How do we as Christians view the new Arizona law concerning religious freedom?
  • I had a loved one pass away months ago and I want to know where they are. John 5:24 - it seems to say those that believe will not be judged.
  • Thanks to CHRB and to the wonderful callers. It gets me thinking. When I hear the questions about losing salvation, I think about the heart transplant we receive. It's a one-way action.
  • I don't think we go straight to Heaven when we die.

Let the Message of Christ Dwell Among You*

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

Paul discovered that the law couldn't give him life. He thought it could. But only the Spirit can give life. 2 Corinthians 3:6 states "the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life".

  • I was told it's wrong to be baptized only in the name of Jesus. So I'm concerned that I did the wrong thing.
  • Daniel calls with encouragement from Colossians 3:16-17 "Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him."

The Father of Mercies and God of all Comfort

Richard Peifer, Bob Davis

"Now if perfection had been attainable through the Levitical priesthood..., what further need would there have been for another priest...? For when there is a change in the priesthood, there is necessarily a change in the law as well. ... This becomes even more evident when another priest arises in the likeness of Melchizedek, who has become a priest, not on the basis of a legal requirement concerning bodily descent, but by the power of an indestructible life." Hebrews 7:11-16 ESV

  • My daughter-in-law had a medium over to the house. Isaiah speaks against this.
  • My son passed away a year ago and we're still suffering as a family. I've been searching the Scripture for comfort. 2 Corinthians 1:3
  • Can you explain this verse for my understanding? "Whoever would foster love covers over an offense, but whoever repeats the matter separates close friends." Proverbs 17:9 NIV
  • Please explain "walking in the spirit" as it relates to Heidi's call.

The Power of an Indestructible Life

Richard Peifer, Bob Davis

One of the questions that come up is "what law are we under in the New Covenant"? Lets look at Hebrews 7:11-16... specifically verse 12 "For when the priesthood is changed, the law must be changed also."

  • There's been a desire in me to preach the message of grace, but I'm not sure that it is prompted by the Holy Spirit and even so, why would God want me—a sinner—to preach His Gospel of grace?
  • Brad calls to discuss how important it is that the veil be removed so we can see grace.
  • How can I get more Bible verses explaining the veil and law and grace and things like that?
