Our Sins Have Been Forgiven

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

Hebrews 8:12 contains promise number four of the New Covenant. "I will forgive their wickedness and I will never again remember their sins." For the longest time those sins stood between us and God. And now He took them away. We read that Jesus took away sin. We can stand before God know our sins have been forgiven.

Let Us Approach the Throne of Grace with Confidence

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer, Andrew Farley

In Hebrews 8:11 we read, "No longer will they teach their neighbor, or say to one another, 'Know the Lord,' because they will all know me, from the least of them to the greatest." What does this mean to you and how does it compare to how people under the old covenant related to God?

From the Least to the Greatest

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer, Andrew Farley

Jesus Christ is made real to us through the new covenant. This week we're talking about those promises. Today is promise number 3, "No longer will they teach their neighbor, or say to one another, 'Know the Lord,' because they will all know me, from the least of them to the greatest." Hebrews 8:11 This is all about relationship.

Eternal Membership

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

All of us have this need to belong. We want to be part of a group of people. In this New Covenant we have a promise that guarantees our eternal membership. Because of our faith in Jesus Christ we belong. One of the things that the Spirit does is to put this testimony on our heats.

We Are His People

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

Promise number two of the New covenant is this: "I will be their God and they will be My people." This promise of the four is so radically different from the Old Covenant. The Old said "IF". "If you obey and keep My covenant..." Very soon after they ratified the covenant they broke it. Under the New we truly belong to God and it lays a foundation of assurance.

Faith, Hope, and Love

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

Here's what God promised you in the New Covenant which has been fulfilled in Christ. God has put His laws on your minds and written them on your hearts. But what are those laws? Are they the 10 Commandments or something new? In 1 John 3:23 John writes, "And this is his command: to believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and to love one another as he commanded us."

Love One Another as He Commanded Us

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

Here's promise number one of the New Covenant: Hebrews 8:10 "I will put My laws in their minds and write them in their hearts." 2 Corinthians 3:3 "a letter from Christ... written by the Spirit... on human hearts." 1 John 3:23 "And this is his command: to believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and to love one another as he commanded us."

  • One of the commandments is that you love others as you love yourself.
  • When I was saved, Jesus forgiven me of my sins. But since then I have sinned. And I ask forgiveness for that sin. But you state that you don't have to ask God for forgiveness. Is this true?

4 Promises Fulfilled

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

Four promises fulfilled in Christ: 1. I will put My laws in their hearts and I will write them on their minds. 2. I will be their God, and they will be my people. 3. No longer will they teach their neighbor, or say to one another, 'Know the Lord,' because they will all know me, 4. I will forgive their wickedness and remember their sins no more. Hebrews 8:10-12

The New is Superior

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Richard Peifer

This week we're going to take a look at the New Covenant. In Hebrews 8:6 we read, "But in fact the ministry Jesus has received is as superior to theirs as the covenant of which he is mediator is superior to the old one, since the new covenant is established on better promises."

Only in Christ is the Veil Taken away

Richard Peifer, Bob Davis

One of the things that God did was to make us competent as ministers of this New Covenant. "Will not the ministry of the spirit be even more glorious?... Since we have such a hope we are very bold." Now we have what Paul calls the surpassing glory which means the very Spirit of God has taken up residence in us. This new covenant isn't better because it trashed the old. It's better because it's internal. And now we have the glory of the New Covenant living within us.
