Enter God's Rest

Richard Peifer, Bob Davis

How does the New Covenant apply to your life? "By the seventh day God completed His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done. Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because on it He rested from all His work which God had created and made." Genesis 2:2-3 God completed his work of creation. He was perfectly satisfied with His perfect creation because He was satisfied with what He had done.

The Old Has Gone. The New is Here.

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Andrew Farley

We've been talking about how important this New Covenant is to us all month. We are New Covenant believers. "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come." 2 Corinthians 5:17 Let's find unity in Jesus.

Your Salvation is Complete

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

Yesterday we share a verse out of Hebrews 7:25 and this is a "therefore" statement. It's a conclusion of comparing the Levitical priesthood to the permanent priesthood of Jesus Christ. The Levites were never able to sit down because their work was never completed. But Jesus finished his work once and for all. In salvation we receive eternal life - Jesus' life. Because he lives you live. "When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory." Colossians 3:4

Rightly Divide the Word

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

Hebrews is really a book of contrasts. The writer compares several items in the Old Covenant with the New Covenant. 7:23-28 records this: "The former priests were many in number, because they were prevented by death from continuing in office, but he holds his priesthood permanently, because he continues forever. ..." Jesus is better than the Levitical priesthood. The priesthood of Jesus Christ is our guarantee. Once we're saved by Jesus we are saved completely.

Simple Gospel, Simply Grace - Part 34

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

What is God's will for your life? That can be a perplexing and frustrating question for many. Most of us think of God's will in terms of a plan for our life... who to marry, where to work, etc. It take a shift in focus to really understand the will of God. Instead of thinking of God's will in terms of a plan, let's focus on thinking of God's will as a legal will that he has ratified through the death of Jesus Christ.

Grace and Mercy in Your Time of Need

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

In Hebrews 4 we read some very comforting passages: "Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin." Jesus, our high priest, lived here on earth as one of us and withstood the temptations of the world. He is able to sympathize with us. He knows exactly what we are going through. Hebrews 4:14-16

You're a New Creation

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis, Andrew Farley

Do you - as a believer - have a "deceitful" and "wicked" heart? Should your heart be tested, not trusted? One of my favorite passages is from December 30:6 is really prophetic about what has happened to you now that you're in Jesus Christ. "And the Lord your God will circumcise your heart and the heart of your offspring, so that you will love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul, that you may live."

Better Promises

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

At the death of Jesus Christ he ushered in a brand New Covenant. At the Last Supper he announced that the time was at hand. But why do we have a New Covenant? Wasn't the Old Covenant good enough? "But as it is, Christ has obtained a ministry that is as much more excellent than the old as the covenant he mediates is better, since it is enacted on better promises. For if that first covenant had been faultless, there would have been no occasion to look for a second." Hebrews 8:6-7

The Unity of Two

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

What is the secret of a long marriage? The key for believers is to look at your spouse the way God looks at them. He loves them completely and has filled your spouse with His spirit. This allows you to relax and depend on God to do his work in your spouse. As two individuals connected to Jesus Christ now you are connected to each other. You are now one entity. Let every decision flow through that truth.

Simple Gospel, Simply Grace - Part 33

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

As Christians, we've been forgiven, made righteous, holy, alive together with Christ, and God has sent his spirit to take up residence in us. That is what it means to live in the newness of life. Our new life is lived by grace through faith. This is in conflict with the world we live; a world which is often chaotic, selfish, and anti-Christianity.
