A Grand Success

Andrew Farley, Bob Davis

"I will put my laws on their hearts, and write them on their minds" Hebrews 10:16 The cross worked and the resurrection was a grand success.

  • Does "by his stripes" we are healed means that healing is guaranteed?
  • Joe asks if you have to be baptized to be saved. He hearing two different opinions.
  • Pat asks how do you share the Gospel of Jesus Christ without scaring people away with Hell, fire, and brimstone?

Is There a Plan "B"?

Andrew Farley, Bob Davis

I've been reflecting today about losing my dad a few years ago. So often things are just out of our control. But what is the answer to that? Do we surrender? Let your requests be known to God. Ultimately the only thing we're guaranteed in Jesus Christ. He is permanent and we can look to him as our rock, our stability, and our strength. He is an anchor for our soul. He is our life.

  • How do we answer those who say we're to respect all religions? If Jesus is the way, how far does our respect go?
  • Were does it talk about Moses' two silver trumpets?
  • Jesus said ,"why do you call me good? Only God is good." Jesus is God, why wouldn't he just say , "yes I am"?
  • So, why does Paul call himself a bond servant and tell us we are slaves to righteousness? Is it an analogy for how we should commit ourselves to Jesus?
  • Al asks what he should do with a brother in Christ who took advantage of him. Does he apply 2 Corinthians 5:11 to him?
  • Robert from Texas says Andrew is the real deal. Wants others to know that.

Jesus Is the Promise

Richard Peifer, Bob Davis

Jesus was the promise. He fulfilled it all and now we live in the benefit of the New Covenant.

  • Is Ephesians 6:8 teaching good works?
  • Richard addresses the rest of Bri's questions from yesterday. She asked about Bible versions and denominations. She also asked about "lost books" of the Bible.

A Debt You Cannot Pay

Richard Peifer, Bob Davis

Richard Peifer joins us today as he discusses the parable of the unforgiving servant in Matthew 18. Here are two debtors that owe what they cannot pay and beg for mercy and patience. What do we learn from this? We receive compassion, , and forgiveness in Jesus Christ.

  • Bri asks several questions. How many of the Bible authors are in the line of Jesus? Since the Jews are God's chosen people are we to be following Jewish beliefs? How do I better share my faith? I'm the only believer in my family.
  • How do we choose a denomination? What Bible version do we read? Should we read the lost books? Who did Jesus pray to if he is God?
  • I've turned away from Mormonism. How should I address this with my wife?

Simple Gospel, Simply Grace - Part 32

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

S. M. Lockridge preached a powerful evangelical sermon years ago. The tagline is "It's Friday, but Sunday's coming". For Christians, Friday represents the death of Christ on the cross and his burial But, thanks be to God, Sunday is coming! Jesus Christ is raised from the dead. For those of us who have to come to Christ, it is always Sunday ... just was he was raised from the dead, we too have been raised to newness of life. We live in a "Friday" world, but, as Christians, our reality is in Sunday...new life in Christ Jesus.

Promises and Blessings

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

The New Covenant is guaranteed to us by a better promise and an oath made by God. We read about this in Hebrews 6:13-20 "For when God made a promise to Abraham, since he had no one greater by whom to swear, he swore by himself, saying, 'Surely I will bless you and multiply you.' And thus Abraham, having patiently waited, obtained the promise. ..."

  • How are the laws written on our hearts in Hebrews 8:10?
  • Mark follows up with a question about Titus 3:5 "he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit".
  • Hanna argues that we should practice all the Old Covenant laws.

Christ Must Increase

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

The Old Covenant has been away with and it's been replaced by something better called the New Covenant. John 3:30 John the Baptist says, "He must increase, but I must decrease." John's purpose was to declare Jesus Christ to the people. The purpose of the law and prophets was coming to an end and the way was made for Christ.

  • A caller is confused about Abraham having a child with Sarah's servant. Isn't that adultery?
  • Can a Christian still struggle with legalism?
  • It seemed to take years for me to break my sinful addiction to pornography. Please tell me, was I saved when I first believed?

Sinner or Saint

Andrew Farley, Bob Davis

Paul called himself the "chief of sinners". What are your thoughts? So are we sinner or saint?

  • Can a Christian lose their salvation?
  • Tina asks about tithing and New Covenant joyful giving.
  • My family has statues of St. Michael and the Virgin of GuadalupĂ© ... and they pray to the saints, which I believe is wrong. How should I explain that this practice is wrong?

Looking Forward

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

It's been one year since the first COVID case was diagnosed in NYC. And what a year it's been. But we have hope in Christ and we can always look to him for our sure foundation.

  • Is the peace treaty that was signed a few months ago the beginning of the 7 years talked about in Revelation?
  • My brother is dating and living with a Christian woman who is separated from her husband. If they were to die like this with all the convictions from God and not heeding His voice, would they end up in hell?
  • What happened to people that arose from the graves?
  • How should Matt 6:15 be interpreted and applied "through the lens of the New Covenant"?

Simple Gospel, Simply Grace - Part 31

Bob Christopher, Bob Davis

The life God has for us is one of freedom and He has equipped us to experience that freedom in full. Often when we leave a place of bondage, it is hard to accept freedom and we easily fall back into bondage. When we move from self-effort to dependent on the Spirit, we see that our life of freedom is Spirit-led, from start to finish.
